Students across the Martin County School District returned to classrooms on Monday, August 10, ready to begin the 2026-2027 school year.
The day began early at the District’s Transportation Department, where Superintendent Michael Maine greeted bus drivers and handed out donuts as they headed out to pick up students. As buses arrived at schools across Martin County, students began settling into new classrooms, meeting their teachers, reconnecting with friends and getting their first look at what the new school year has in store.
The new school year also brings new goals as the District builds on another A-rated year. The District is focused on continuing to raise the bar as a premier education district, including increasing literacy and reading proficiency and working toward its goal of ensuring every student reads on grade level.
For students, the first day was about the excitement of what comes next—new classes, new experiences, new responsibilities and another year of learning.
