⛳STUDENT BECOMES TEACHER⛳ Rob Uzar, a South Fork High School alum, recently hosted 45 current SFHS students at the Eastpointe Country Club for a field trip with First Green (a program of GCSAA). In addition to a walking tour of the 16th, 17th and 18th holes, students also visited the pump house. They walked to Mr. Uzar’s golf course maintenance building, where they spent some time with equipment technician Clay Bormuth and several other technicians from nearby courses who came to help out. Uzar was one of four superintendents from South Florida golf courses working with the students that day. SFHS Principal Dr. Tim Aitken said he loves the "positive publicity from industry connections demonstrating the need for our kids to be experienced and ready to work on the golf courses." Thanks to the Education Foundation's generosity, the Academy of Turfgrass & Landscape Management was able to purchase 4 brand-new string line trimmers. This will help us to train students how to safely operate these and prepare for our industry certification test. Students are able to become Florida Certified Landscape Maintenance Technicians after demonstrating safe equipment operations, identifying plants, adjusting irrigation, identifying pests, calibrating fertilizer spreaders, evaluating job sites and properly pruning trees. We will also use these tools to help maintain our golf course and land lab. Thank you so much!

📚CELEBRATING OUR HISTORY📚 Ms. E. Thelma Waters was a celebrated civic leader in the Village of Indiantown, FL Government whom we celebrate for #BlackHistoryMonth! Ms. Waters had an inspirational determination to ensure a quality and equitable education for her children and countless others in her community. She was named to the Florida Commission on the Status of Women in 2020 and was one of three people who signed the Articles of Incorporation for the Village of Indiantown. #ALLINMartin👊

Being selected to perform at this level is a tremendous honor for our student musicians - they perform select pieces of music before a panel of judges during the Conference. In some cases, they also have to take a 50-question musical theory test. Students prepare for more than a year to perform. 💚THE WIZARDS OF SOUTH FORK💚 South Fork High School proudly hosted the Felix A. Williams Elementary and Jensen Beach Elementary School students for lunch and a show! Students got a sneak peek of the South Fork Drama Program The Wizard of Oz, performed under the guidance of Sheri Bryan. It was such a fantastic show that the kids gave it 10 stars out of 5! "Thank you to the Felix and Jensen teachers and chaperones for sharing some time at South Fork. The kids were WONDERFUL examples of the most precious resources Martin County has to offer! Congratulations to our National Merit Finalists, Cary E. Bryan, Ty J. Martino, and Hailey N. Resetar. The selection of some 7,250 Merit Scholarship winners from the group of more than 15,000 Finalists is now in progress. Scholarship winners will be announced starting in April.
