Public Hearing to be held to review Social Studies Materials

The Martin County School District is currently reviewing materials for the 2022-2023  social studies instructional materials adoption.

Pursuant to Chapter 120, Florida Statutes, the Martin County School Board is holding a public hearing to consider input from parents and community members regarding the instructional materials selected for the social studies adoption.  The purpose of this hearing is to give parents and community members the opportunity to contribute their input to the selection of instructional materials in the current adoption cycle in accordance with the legislative and State Board of Education Regulations.

The recommended materials may be reviewed on the Instructional Resources Adoption Page on The Martin County School District website.  The materials may be accessed using the following link:  MCSD K-12 Social Studies Adoption Public Review Instructional Materials.

The timeframe for this review will run through the close of business on February, 16th 2023.  Individuals may share their feedback at a Public Hearing during the regularly scheduled Martin County School Board Meeting, which will take place on Tuesday, February 21st.

The next step in the process is for the Board to vote on the Instructional Materials Review Committee recommendations at the March 21, 2023 meeting. If approved, a required 30-day window for public objection will open from March 22-April 20, 2023.
