Constitution Week officially begins on September 17, but Martin County School District students are already getting a head start!

Further highlighting the importance of this annual observance, the Martin County School Board approved the 2026 Constitution Week Proclamation at Tuesday night's meeting, developed with Ms. Rae Scimeca and the Halpatiokee Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

As we recognize the 239th anniversary of the signing of the U.S. Constitution, students across the District will spend the week learning about the document that continues to shape our nation and protect our freedoms.

The Martin County School Board has officially proclaimed September 25, 2026, as Dolly Parton Day throughout the Martin County School District! 💓📖

The day celebrates Dolly Parton’s remarkable contributions to children and literacy, along with the impact of programs like Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library in helping young readers build a lifelong love of books.

We’re proud to celebrate alongside the Children’s Services Council of Martin County and The Library Foundation of Martin County as we encourage our school community to read, dream and grow together.

Here’s how to join us on Dolly Parton Day, a.k.a. 9/2-5:
📚Read for at least 30 minutes on September 25.
📖Get a library card and make your next great read easier to find.
💗Have a child age 5 or under? Sign up for Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library to receive free books at home.

And, of course, dress the part! Think pink, rhinestones, boots and big hair. Or, dress in your favorite college team to represent the coat of many colors! 👢✨💕

Science is SWEET! Students in Mrs. Ryan and Mrs. Jones’s classes got to dig into Earth science, literally! They used M&M’s and Milky Ways to create tasty models representing the layers of Earth’s interior. From the crust to the core, students modeled Earth’s different layers while exploring how scientists use models to better understand things we can’t see firsthand. Who knew learning about Earth’s interior could be so delicious?

Today, our Jaguars were celebrated for something that makes our school community stronger—kindness! 🐾✨

Our PBIS team popped up to recognize students who were caught showing Acts of Kindness and reminding us that even the smallest gesture can make a BIG difference.

🇺🇸 Remembering the Heroes of 9/11 🇺🇸 Mrs. Koehler’s students took time to reflect, remember, and honor the courage, sacrifice, and service shown on September 11, 2001. Through a meaningful paper-chain activity, each student added an act of courage or kindness—creating a powerful reminder that small acts can make a big difference when we come together. ❤️ We Remember. We Honor. We Serve. Never Forget. 🇺🇸🐾

Our ESE students participated in a hands-on baking activity as a part of our Career Classroom Jobs. Students practiced following directions, measuring, and mixing ingredients, teamwork, kitchen safety, and task completion while developing independence and work readiness skills. The ESE team, along with the assistance of Ms. Sarah, our Occupational Therapist, Ms. Shae, our RBT, and Ms. Brianna, our Speech Language Pathologist, it was a fun and meaningful learning experience for our students!

📚🐆 Spotlight on our ELA Jaguars! Mr. Quijano and Ms. Derkach’s ELA students were putting their thinking to work during a Building Thinking Classroom activity! Students practiced using the RACE method—Restate, Answer, Cite Evidence, and Explain—to build strong, evidence-based responses. They were engaged, collaborative, and having fun while showing off their thinking skills. Our Jaguars definitely ROAR! 🐆📖💙🧡 Way to go, ELA Jaguars!

🐾 PBIS Pop-Up! 🐾 Period 7 was all about being ON TASK, and our Jaguars showed us they were ready to ROAR! 🧡💙 We surprised students who were on task during the period with a special PBIS celebration! Way to stay focused and make great choices, Jaguars! 🎉

📚✨ Plotting Their Way to Success! Mr. Quijano’s AVD ELA students put their reading skills into action by creating plot diagrams that identified and organized the key events of a story. From the opening moments to the climax and resolution, students demonstrated their ability to analyze how each event contributes to the story as a whole. 🎬📖 Reading. Analyzing. Connecting. Creating.
