We’re excited to share some fantastic news! Two of our students, Ethan Repass and Kai Encomio, recently earned a grant from the National Association for Secondary School Principals (NASSP) through their Student Service Grants program. Even more impressive—this marks the first time a student has ever applied for or received this grant!
Their project focuses on helping our local community get better prepared for severe weather. Along the way, they explored practical topics such as building a weather survival kit, predicting weather conditions, and staying connected during emergencies. It’s inspiring to see students take initiative and use their learning to make a real-world impact—rain or shine! ☔️ ☀️

🍓FARM TO SCHOOL WEEK🍓
Fresh, local, and full of flavor! 🍅
This week, our cafeterias are celebrating Farm to School Week with delicious, Florida-grown products—like crisp cucumbers, juicy grape tomatoes, sweet peppers, red bliss potatoes, and refreshing Florida milk.
It’s a great way for students to enjoy nutritious meals while learning what grows in their community! 🥔🥒

🏀📚 Our 6th Graders are DOMINATING the MCSD IXL March Madness Challenge! 📚🏀
For the past two weeks, our incredible 6th Grade students have stepped up to the challenge and exceeded every expectation! Together they brought an amazing 7,595 Math and ELA skills to proficiency (80% or higher)! 🤯👏
To celebrate their hard work, our 6th graders earned a special reward — FREE outdoor time during lunch AND music playing while they enjoyed it! 🎶☀️
And let’s just say…
💃 We danced
😂 We laughed
😊 We smiled
We are so proud of these students for showing what dedication, perseverance, and Jaguar pride looks like! Keep it up, 6th grade — you are setting the bar HIGH! 🐆🔥

We are so excited to celebrate the amazing response to our Spring Ahead with a Good Book event!
A huge thank you to the Education Foundation of Martin County for supporting our students through the Book Vending Machine. It was wonderful to see so many students participate by sharing thoughtful reasons about why they wanted a book to read over spring break. Their enthusiasm for reading and excitement about choosing a new book made this event truly special. Thank you for helping us inspire a love of reading and giving our students the opportunity to spring into a great book!

Last week these 8th Grade students completed an incredible 670 IXL skills, and they celebrated their hard work with a fun “Circles” scavenger hunt—calculating the radius, diameter, circumference, and area of their pizza. Math has never been so delicious! 😄
Mrs Rasmussen is so proud of these kiddos and the effort they put in every day. A big thank you to Mrs. Raines for helping make a well-earned pizza reward possible for my Geometry class! 🍕📐

On Sunday, March 1st, our own Mr. Michael Hiatt from Stuart Middle School, hosted their inaugural Martin County SeaPerch Invitational Event ~ SeaPerch is a remotely operated vehicle (ROV), a competition, and a community ~ the program guides students on building an underwater robot while supplying educators with the tools and training to help them through the process. Mr. Hiatt instructs the Exploration of Aerospace, Engineering and Honors
Engineering programs, runs the chess club and is a Civil Air Patrol AEM Member, in addition to leading their SeaPerch club. This unique competition, held at the Stuart YMCA pool, showcased three (3) SMS teams and two (2) teams from the Boynton Aerospace Science Academy (charter high school) - who’s students were truly exceptional and we are grateful for their guidance and mentorship provided to our SMS student teams, who are very new to this emerging community. Additionally, we would like to extend a sincere thank‑you to the JBHS AF
JROTC for their outstanding assistance in judging both the mission course and the obstacle course. Their support played a major role in making the event a success. We were also joined by two members from the IRSC Advanced Manufacturing / Engineering programs who were offering support and guanidine. The results are being tabulated this week, and the overall winner will be announced soon, followed by special trophies and celebratory pizza! One of
our SMS teams is vying for a spot at the National Competition, later this spring, in Maryland. Hat’s off for Mr. Hiatt and the SMS team for their successful inaugural event!

Celebrate the season with Spring Ahead with a Good Book from the Educational Foundation of Martin County Book Vending Machine!
As the days get longer and flowers begin to bloom, it’s the perfect time to grow your imagination through reading. SMS Students are invited to “spring ahead” by selecting an exciting new book, exploring a different genre, or discovering a new favorite author. Whether you enjoy adventure, mystery, fantasy, graphic novels, or nonfiction, the Book Vending Machine offers great choices to spark your interest. To participate, students should see Mrs. Pool in the Media Center and turn in a three-sentence description explaining why they would like to read a book over spring break. Make reading part of your spring and watch your imagination bloom!
