🍼💗 SMS Builders Club Baby Drive! 💙⭐ Our Jaguars are collecting baby essentials for Carenet for Mothers in Need! 👶 Donations of diapers, socks, bibs, clothing, bottles, and other baby items are welcome through November 18th! 🍕 The class that brings in the most donations wins a pizza party! 🎉 Let’s show our Jaguar spirit by supporting families in our community! 💙🧡 Every donation makes a difference! 🐆

The National Junior Honor Society completed their first service project by collecting 300+ hygiene items for the children and young adults at Hibiscus House — toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, shampoo, brushes, deodorant, and more. We’re so proud of our NJHS members for their generosity and amazing teamwork, and we look forward to working with the Hibiscus House in the future. 💙🧡

📜🗣️ HISTORY HAS TWO SIDES! 🗣️📜 Our Jaguars are thinking like historians! 🐆🧠 Through a collaborative Building Thinking Classrooms (BTC) activity, students explored the different perspectives surrounding the Stamp Act of 1765 and the growing tensions between Great Britain and the American colonies. 🇬🇧🇺🇸 Students examined the British point of view, why the tax on printed materials was implemented, and why the American colonists believed it was unfair. By looking at both sides of the argument, our students practiced critical thinking, collaboration, and evaluating historical perspectives! 💡📚 🗽 TONIGHT’S DINNER TABLE CHALLENGE! 🍽️ Ask your student these fun questions: 📰 Fun Fact #1: The Stamp Act taxed many printed materials, including newspapers, legal documents, and playing cards! 💬 Fun Fact #2: The colonists protested the tax because they had no elected representatives in the British Parliament to speak on their behalf. 🤔 Challenge your Jaguar: If you had to pay a tax but had no say in the decisions being made, would you think it was fair? Why or why not? Mrs Boyles Biology students have been learning about the structure of DNA this week and today they extracted DNA from a strawberry. 🍓Normally we can’t see DNA with an electron microscope, but because domesticated strawberries are octoploid (they have eight sets of chromosomes), there’s lots of DNA packed into each cell—so much that a white, stringy layer floats above the red juice and allows us to see it perfectly. 🧬👀

🌎🪨 PUTTING THE PIECES OF THE PAST TOGETHER! 🪨🌎 Our seventh-grade scientists are ROCKING their learning! 🐆🔬 Mrs. Ryan and Mrs. Jones’ science classes put their detective skills to work as they matched rock, glacier, and fossil evidence to reconstruct Pangaea, the ancient supercontinent that once connected much of Earth’s land into one giant landmass! 🌍🧩 Through hands-on investigation, our Jaguars explored how scientists use evidence to uncover Earth’s history. After piecing the puzzle together, students completed journal entries to document their learning and reflect on their discoveries. 📝💡 🌋 TONIGHT’S DINNER TABLE CHALLENGE! 🍽️ Ask your seventh grader these fun questions: 🦕 Fun Fact #1: Fossils of the same ancient plants and animals have been found on continents that are now separated by vast oceans. That’s one clue that those continents were once connected! ❄️ Fun Fact #2: Evidence of ancient glaciers has been found in places that are warm today. This helps scientists understand how continents have moved over millions of years! 🤔 Challenge your Jaguar: If you could use just ONE piece of evidence to prove that the continents were once connected, would you choose rocks, fossils, or glacier evidence? Why?
