Former MCSD Educators

Retired Educators

As a retired educator from Martin County School District the district is able to assist you in renewing your teaching certificate for your first certificate renewal after your retirement. We recommend that before you retire you review your in-service record to ensure it's accurate and to know how many points you have available to renew. Also, before you retire you can complete the teaching students with disabilities course and add it into Frontline so it doesn't need completed later.

When you are ready to renew your Educator Certificate complete your on-line renewal application thru your FLDOE account and submit your fee to the FLDOE, then you may request that the Human Resources Department submit to the Florida Department of Education (FLDOE) your in-service points for the certificate's current validity period.

If your certificate expires in 6/30/2025 or after and you have one of these subjects on your certificate, you will need to complete the NEW 40 point reading course requirement. This 40 point course is included in the total 120 required renewal points. If you took the course called Exploring Structured Literacy through the district it meets this requirement. This course also meets the 20 point SWD requirement (total of 40 points, not 60). If you have not yet completed the requirement, you will need to contact a Florida college or university to inquire if they offer it.

Former Educators (not retirees)

As you are no longer employed by Martin County School District, or retired from the district, the district is not able to validate any in-service coursework which is completed after you left our employment. When you are ready to renew your Educator Certificate you may request that the Human Resources Department submit to the Florida Department of Education (FLDOE) any in-service points you earned while employed in Martin County. At any time you may request the Professional Development Department to complete the In-service Transfer Record and send it to another Florida county.

Please visit the FLDOE website for current certification renewal requirements.

If you took college courses for renewal credit, an official college transcript must be mailed to the FLDOE (address), unless sent electronically through FASTER or SPEEDE. Allow the FLDOE 30 days to process your transcripts from the time they receive them.
