Martin County High School's Culinary Team Heads to Nationals

Five seniors in Martin County High School's Culinary Arts Program competed at the National ProStart Invitational in Washington D.C. on May 4, 2023.

The competition was a "Hells Kitchen" type culinary event where the students had 60 minutes to complete a three-course meal using only two burners, no electronics and no access to running water.

The students spent months preparing the perfect menu to compete with, ultimately deciding to focus on highlighting one ingredient in each course: carrots.

This was the first year the MCHS Culinary Arts team made it to nationals, representing the entire state of Florida. They performed with professionalism, dignity, and grace, placing 13th in the nation.

Congratulations to the following students who competed in this year's competition:

  • Georgia Poirier
  • Dominic Padovano
  • Paige Williams
  • Lily Tax
  • Sophia Poirier
