Schools earn School of Excellence Designation

The Martin County School District is proud to announce that six schools have earned the esteemed designation of a “School of Excellence” for the 2022-2023 school year.

Section 1003.631(1)(a), Florida Statutes, requires the State Board of Education to designate a school as a School of Excellence if the school’s percentage of possible points earned in its school grade calculation is in the 80th percentile or higher for schools comprised of the same grade groupings (elementary, middle, high and combination) for at least two of the last three school years.

The Schools of Excellence Program was established to provide administrative flexibility to the state's top schools, enabling the instructional and administrative staff in these schools to continue serving their communities and increasing student learning to the best of their professional ability.

In 2022-23, 783 schools were designated as a School of Excellence. Of these schools, 658 maintained their designation from 2021-22, 37 renewed their designation, and 88 were newly designated in 2022-23.

Congratulations to the following Martin County schools for earning the School of Excellence designation in the 2022-2023 school year:

  • Bessey Creek Elementary School

  • Jensen Beach Elementary School

  • Palm City Elementary School

  • Hidden Oaks Middle School

  • Clark Advanced Learning Center

  • Jensen Beach High School

Being designated as a School of Excellence holds significant importance in the pursuit of becoming the top education system in Florida. The designation not only recognizes the outstanding achievements of these schools but also fuels the ongoing progress of the entire district to provide the highest quality of education for our students.
