Cognia Accreditation

The Martin County School District is proud to announce the conclusion of the Cognia accreditation process. The newly awarded accreditation status will remain through 2030. This achievement underscores the district's ongoing commitment to providing high-quality education for all students.

Cognia accreditation is a comprehensive process that evaluates various aspects of the district, including policies and classroom environments, to ensure it meets the needs of every student. The process consists of three phases: Self-Assessment, Engagement, and Continuous Improvement.

In August 2023, the District's Leadership Team began the Self-Assessment phase, collecting and analyzing data to identify areas of strength and areas for improvement. Following this, the Engagement Review took place in January 2024, during which Cognia experts conducted a thorough examination of the district and highlighted positive practices, such as a supportive learning environment and a focus on preparing students for the future.

The Leadership Team for Cognia Reaccreditation, led by Dr. Debra George, Dr. Paige McMahon, Dr. Melissa Riviotta, Mr. Troy LaBarbara, and Dr. Tracey Miller, will continue to progress monitor identified areas for improvement, a demonstration of the district's ongoing commitment to growth and enhancement.

Superintendent of Schools Michael Maine expressed his pride in this achievement, emphasizing its significance in the District's pursuit of educational preeminence. "Earning reaccreditation is a vital step in our journey towards excellence," said Maine. "We celebrate this success and remain dedicated to continuous improvement."

The District extends its gratitude to the educators, students, and community members whose dedication and support have contributed to this achievement.

The completion of Cognia accreditation is a significant milestone for the Martin County School District, demonstrating its commitment to continuous improvement and ensuring the success of all students.
