The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards' Palm Beach and Martin Counties Region has announced its 2021-2022 Scholastic Arts Competition winners. More than 4,000 local student artists submitted pieces for consideration as part of this year's competition.
Twenty-five artists from Jensen Beach High School, Martin County High School and South Fork High School have been recognized for their creativity, originality and artistic skill!

The Village of Indiantown presented Warfield Elementary School with a certificate of appreciation earlier this week. The school was recognized for its partnership with the Village Council in honor of Florida City Government Week.

Eighth-graders at Murray Middle School were treated to their "Explore My Future" Career & Technical Education (CTE) Showcase yesterday! 🦁
The District's CTE Department partnered with the Hobe Sound Chamber of Commerce for the event, which allowed MMS students to chat with and learn more from students enrolled in our high school career academies as well as local business leaders.

Twenty-seven outstanding employees were honored during the Martin County School District's annual School-Related Employee of the Year Ceremony last evening! The event was held at the Stuart Corinthian Yacht Club.
Mrs. Maria Salome Martinez, secretary at Palm City Elementary School, was named the District's overall School-Related Employee of the Year.

⚖️CELEBRATING CONSTITUTIONAL SCHOLARS⚖️
In partnership with the Center for Constitutional Values' Scholarship Fund and the YMCA of The Treasure Coast, the Martin County School District conducted the seventh annual “Constitution Academic Competition” this week!
Teams of students from Jensen Beach, Martin County and South Fork high schools debated the U.S. Supreme Court case “Miller v. Alabama” before presiding judges - the Honorable Kathleen Roberts (19th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida), the Honorable William Roby (19th Judicial Circuit Court) and the Honorable Alan O. Forst (Fourth District Court of Appeal). The case addressed the constitutionality of enacting life sentences without parole for juveniles convicted of capital crimes.

💪PINNING HIS OBSTACLES💪
Michael Tabor, a freshman at Martin County High School, was diagnosed with ocular albinism and congenital nystagmus at three months old. Joining a wrestling program while dealing with visual impairment may not seem like something that would be at the top of many people's wish list, but Michael is no ordinary young man. He has embraced the challenge and his role on the Martin Co Athletics Wrestling team.

HONORING THE PAST
In honor of Holocaust Remembrance Day, Palm City resident and Holocaust survivor Louis Schneider will share his powerful story of perseverance and hope with the Martin County community. Mr. Schneider will speak at Jensen Beach High School at 6:00 p.m. on January 27, 2022. While there is no charge to attend, those interested in attending must RSVP to reserve seats. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m.

🌱🍊GROWING HEALTHY & STRONG🌱🍊
Students in Ms. Love's class at Warfield Elementary School have been enjoying healthy snacks provided by the District's Office of Food & Nutrition Services! The Fresh Fruits & Vegetables Program, an initiative of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, has allowed the District to engage students in expanding their taste palates by providing them with access to healthy fruits and veggies.
This week, Ms. Love's students practiced their language skills by describing the snack they enjoyed. They described oranges as juicy, sweet, sticky, round, healthy and delicious!
