Martin County High School art team is excited to share their latest exhibit- Chiaroscuro: An expression of gratitude shown with lights and darks. This is a collection of student works done in black and white with a focus on being grateful for the ability to create and express themselves.

๐RECOGNIZING OUTSTANDING SCHOLARS๐
On November 18, Martin County School District hosted its annual perfect score recognition ceremonies for elementary, middle and high school students. One hundred seventeen (117) students earned a perfect score on one or more statewide assessments during the 2020-2021 school year. #ALLINMartin๐


Bessey Creek Elementary School held its school-wide Thanksgiving celebration on Thursday. The entire school enjoyed participating in this great feast together and seated in their buddy class groups. Parents were amazing and helpful, making sure the banquet tables looked beautiful. The Food & Nutrition Services team and custodial staff worked tirelessly to ensure students enjoyed a delicious meal and that the campus was left spotless afterward.

๐PLAYING THEIR WAY TO SUCCESS๐
Students in Ms. Drayton's class at Warfield Elementary School LOVED engaging in oral language development through play this week! Made possible by the Education Foundation of Martin County, the PLAYS (Purposeful Language Acquisition Yields Success) initiative engages our youngest learners in language development through meaningful pretend play.
Ms. Drayton's students served as chefs and patrons in their very own diner. Way to go, Warriors!

๐SCHOOL BOARD SEEKS PUBLIC INPUT ON DISTRICT'S INSTRUCTIONAL CONTINUITY PLAN, ARP GRANT PROPOSAL๐
The public is asked and encouraged to provide input with respect to the Martin County School District's Instructional Continuity Plan (ICP) and Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief American Rescue Plan ( ESSER ARP) proposal. The District will take all feedback into consideration and make necessary adjustments to the ICP and ESSER ARP based on public input and consultation, as well as feedback received from the Florida Department of Education.

๐CELEBRATING AN OUTSTANDING FIRST YEAR๐
Superintendent John D. Millay celebrated his one-year workaversary with the Martin County School District today! Dr. Millay enjoyed cupcakes with his leadership team and a visit with our outstanding school bus operators to mark the occasion.
"It has been a great year. I have enjoyed every minute of being part of the MCSD family and community," Dr. Millay shared. "I can't wait to see what the next year has in store for Martin County as we pursue our collective mission of educating all students for success!"

๐DEVELOPING HISTORICAL UNDERSTANDING: HOLOCAUST EDUCATION๐
As part of its implementation of state-required instruction for high school students, the Martin County School District recently invited Mr. Louis Schneider, a survivor of the Holocaust, to speak with students about his experiences during this horrific and heartbreaking time.

โตSAILING TOWARD SUCCESSโต
Students enrolled in the District's Martin SAILS (Students Achieving Independent Living Skills) program participated in the dedication of a new SAILS classroom in partnership with the The Hope Center for Autism last week. Martin SAILS is a transition program that offers eligible students the opportunity to receive specialized instruction in independent living, employability skills and social communication skills.
MCSD and The Hope Center for Autism send a huge thank you to the Lichtenberger family for their generous contribution that has helped to make this program possible.

๐ฉHATS OFF TO OUR STUDENTS๐ฉ
Students in Ms. Nolan's class at Pinewood Elementary School recently completed a service project rooted in kindness. Thirty-five hand-knitted hats are currently en route to New York to be distributed to those in need during the holiday season.
"It has been a wonderful experience doing this project with your children," Ms. Nolan shared in a message to parents. "They enthusiastically embraced the idea of service to others, they learned to knit, they practiced their Spanish while knitting and the hats they produced were amazing."
Kudos to Ms. Nolan and her students for going #ALLINMartin๐ and bringing kindness to life this holiday season!

The Martin County School Board elected a new Chair and Vice Chair during its annual reorganization meeting this evening. Mrs. Christia Li Roberts (District 1) will serve as the School Board Chair and Mr. Tony Anderson (District 4) will serve as the School Board Vice Chair.
