The Martin County School Board has officially proclaimed September 25, 2026, as Dolly Parton Day throughout the Martin County School District! 💓📖
The day celebrates Dolly Parton’s remarkable contributions to children and literacy, along with the impact of programs like Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library in helping young readers build a lifelong love of books.
We’re proud to celebrate alongside the Children’s Services Council of Martin County and The Library Foundation of Martin County as we encourage our school community to read, dream and grow together.
Here’s how to join us on Dolly Parton Day, a.k.a. 9/2-5:
📚Read for at least 30 minutes on September 25.
📖Get a library card and make your next great read easier to find.
💗Have a child age 5 or under? Sign up for Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library to receive free books at home.

Today is National School Backpack Awareness Day, a reminder that a properly fitted and packed backpack can make a big difference in a child's comfort, health, and readiness to learn.
As our Sailfish head to class each day, take a moment to check that backpacks are:
✔️ Worn with both shoulder straps
✔️ Adjusted to fit snugly against the back
✔️ Packed with only what is needed for the day
✔️ Free of unnecessary weight that can strain growing bodies
A backpack is more than a school supply. It's a daily tool that helps students stay organized, responsible, and prepared for success. By building healthy backpack habits now, we're helping our children learn and grow with confidence all year long.

Close Reading glasses make learning more fun! Second grade students are practicing their close reading skills using fun play glasses 👓 to ensure they don’t miss a single word while tracking and learning to following along. Deepening literacy skills through simple, fun, and silly ideas for the win!

Our gifted 5th grade class took on ✨The Great Corn Debate✨ carefully reading informational texts and using text evidence to build and defend their arguments about Three Sisters Planting, Two-Crop Rotation, and Four-Crop Rotation.
📚🌱 Students weren’t just picking a side, they were reading closely, evaluating evidence, thinking critically, and thoughtfully communicating their ideas. We love watching our Sailfish tackle reading and communication skills with confidence, curiosity, and some friendly debate! 💙💚

Students in grades 3-5 who returned a permission slip are invited to attend our Odyssey of the Mind Informational Meeting today, Friday, September 4, from 2:15-3:00 PM in the FAWE Media Center.
✅ This meeting is for students only.
🚗 Parents may pick up their student in front of the school at 3:00 PM.
We can't wait to share more about this exciting opportunity for creative thinkers, problem solvers, and future innovators!
