🍁THANKSGIVING BREAK UPDATE🍁
The Martin County School District would like to formally announce students and teachers will have Nov. 20-24 off for Thanksgiving Break.
As noted in the Instructional Calendar, Nov. 20 and 21 were designated as emergency makeup days to ensure our students would receive the instruction in the event the District had to close schools due to storms or other unforeseen emergencies.
The District has had no such situation creating a need to make up instructional time; therefore, those two days are included in Thanksgiving Break for students and teachers.
The Martin County School Board approved the 2023-2024 School Calendar during its meeting on Nov. 22, 2022. To view the calendar, click here: https://www.martinschools.org/page/calendars

📆HURRICANE MAKEUP DAYS📆
Reminder for families: Hurricane season doesn't officially end until Nov. 30. As we near the end of the season, we want to remind Martin County families of the scheduled Emergency Makeup Days built into the 2023-2024 School Calendar.
We are also nearing the first set up Emergency Makeup Days on our Instructional Calendar, which precedes Thanksgiving Break (Nov. 20-21). These days may be used to make up instructional time in the event we need to close for one or more storms.
IF we do NOT experience any emergency situations or storms requiring us to use one or more of these Emergency Makeup Days, those two days will be added to Thanksgiving Break, giving students the week away from school (Nov. 20-24). At this time, that appears to be the case.
If we experience conditions that would necessitate making up one or more school days, we will provide notice of the appropriate date(s) to families and employees as soon as possible.

🎨CREATIVE COLLABORATORS 🎨
Art educators in the Martin County School District recently attended the annual Florida Art Education Association (FAEA) Professional Development Conference in Pointe Vedra, FL. FAEA is the only professional development solely for art educators and allows art instructors from across the state to collaborate and learn from each other.
Our art educators not only gained valuable knowledge from fellow teachers, they also conducted workshops and hosted art forums during the conference themselves! Mrs. Sheryl Odza (Stuart Middle School) and Mrs. Leah Sacks (J.D. Parker Elementary School) presented workshops and art forums. Mrs. Melissa Nelson (Hidden Oaks Middle School) assisted in a workshop session, creating the presentation for the Royal & Langnickel Classroom Mr. Brush figurine. Mrs. Ashley Monks (Port Salerno Elementary School) facilitated many workshops throughout the conference.
Thanks to the MCSD Curriculum and Instruction Department, these fantastic art teachers are coming back to their classrooms with creative minds full of new strategies, concepts, and dynamic projects for our students!

🧡BULLYING PREVENTION MONTH🧡
October is National Bullying Prevention Month, a time specially dedicated to raising awareness about and preventing childhood bullying while advocating for kindness, acceptance, and inclusion.
Please join us next week, on Oct. 18, as we celebrate Unity Day and unite against bullying by wearing orange. The goal of Unity Day is to bring together youth, parents, educators, and community members across the nation to emphasize the message that we are united against bullying!
The Martin County School District promotes bullying prevention all year round and has zero tolerance for any form of bullying or harassment. Please encourage your child to speak with any teacher, administrator or other trusted adult on their campus if they are in need of support.

Get Ready for a terrific week of Lunches!!!

🍎🎮LEVELING UP LUNCH🎮🍎
Let's get ready to level up with school lunch!
Celebrate National School Lunch Week with the Martin County School District during Oct. 9-13! Our Food and Nutrition Services teams have been practicing their gaming skills and perfecting the menus for their schools.
National School Lunch Week highlights the nutritious foods available daily at each school in the District. It's also a chance to bring awareness of the importance of healthy food choices at school.
“School lunches offer students fruits and vegetables, whole grains and milk, and meet federal nutrition standards limiting fat, calories and sodium,” said Laura Holmedal, MCSD's Director of Food and Nutrition Services. “National School Lunch Week helps us educate parents and students about all the wonderful benefits of our lunch program.”
