T-7 days until our kindergarten orientation events, where families with rising kindergartners learn everything they need to be prepared for August! During the events, families will tour their child's zoned elementary school, meet the principal and leadership team, visit a kindergarten classroom, learn how to prepare their child for success in kindergarten and enroll their child in our high-performing school district. 🐹FAVORITE CLASS PET🐹 At Hobe Sound Elementary School, students celebrated literacy week ALL MONTH LONG by diving deep into a beloved classic, "The World According to Humphrey" by Betty G. Birney. Last night, families joined in on the fun for an evening all about Humphrey! Humphrey says, “you can learn a lot about life by observing another species.” The students had fun listening to the story, writing about the story, and interacting with the pet stuffed hamster provided to each classroom. Humphrey made lots of friends, had lots of adventures and added joy to Room 26 in the book and each of the classrooms at Hobe Sound! Students at Hobe Sound fell in love with Humphrey and with 12 books in the series, they have a lot more reading to do. 📚CELEBRATING LITERACY📚 Join the Martin County School District as we dive into fostering a love for reading during "Celebrate Literacy Week, Florida!" 🐝ICYMI: STELLAR SPELLERS SHINE🐝 The Martin County School District recently held the 57th Annual Lillian A. Dassori Elementary Spelling Bee at Jensen Beach High School. Students from all twelve of the District's elementary schools participated in seven rounds of competition, tackling tough words such as '"aardvark," "anathema," and "celestial." The winner of the Bee, Olivia Priddy from SeaWind Elementary - Hobe Sound, FL, nailed the winning word, "eschew." 🚨LAW ENFORCEMENT ALERT FOR FAMILIES🚨 The Martin County Sheriff's Office is actively enforcing laws about the operation of unregistered golf carts in our community, particularly near school campuses. Golf carts are only permitted on roads with a maximum 35 mph speed limit, and that’s only if they are titled, registered, insured and have all the appropriate safety measures to make them street legal. 🍎DISTRICT TO REOPEN ON MONDAY, NOVEMBER 14🍎 Fortunately, our schools and facilities were spared the brunt of Hurricane Nicole. Our Facilities and Maintenance Departments are working to address minor repairs and clean up debris before reopening.
