☀️ SOLAR ECLIPSE SAFETY ☀️ Reminder: At approximately 1:48 p.m., Martin County will begin to experience a partial solar eclipse. This happens when the moon passes directly between Earth and the sun, momentarily casting a shadow and blocking the sun's light. Martin County will not experience a "totality" like other parts of the country and can expect to see approximately 51% coverage of the sun. 📚SPRING INTO READING📚 Each year, School Board Member Christia Li Roberts (District 1) treats a group of voracious readers from Indiantown Middle School to lunch. This past year was no different! A group of high achieving Thunderbird readers enjoyed lunch with Mrs. Roberts at the historic Seminole Inn Restaurant in the Village of Indiantown, FL Government. They engaged in fun conversations and received a gift to help grow their love of reading even more. We hope our families are enjoying a wonderful Spring Break so far! Our Food and Nutrition Services team created a splash in their cafeterias with fun decorations while serving up healthy breakfast options so our students in grades PreK-12 could ride the wave of success throughout the school day. 🍎CHOOSING THE BEST🍎 During an Emergency Meeting held this evening, the Martin County School Board voted to add Martin County High School and Jensen Beach High School to the list of approved Controlled Open Enrollment schools for the upcoming 2024-2025 school year. This means in AND out-of-county residents can apply to ANY MCSD-operated school during the application period that will open tomorrow, March 1 – March 31. For high school students, applications for signature programs are no longer required as part of the Choice process, but must be completed if your child would like to be considered for entrance into a signature program. ℹ️Students accepted into a Controlled Open Enrollment choice option must have their own mode of transportation to and from school.
