🤝CELEBRATING PARTNERSHIP🤝
The Martin County School District held its annual Volunteer & Business Partner Awards Ceremony on April 14, honoring many outstanding members of our community for their donation of their time and talents to our students and schools.
More than 2,400 volunteers donated approximately 42,000 hours of their time in service to children in the 2020-2021 and 2021-2022 school years, resulting in an estimated impact equivalent to $1.2M.
We feel honored and extremely fortunate to be able to continue educating all students for success in our generous, giving, engaged and helpful Martin County community!

Today's senior in the spotlight is Emilie Guest of Martin County High School!
"One thing I will never forget from my years at MCHS is my yearbook class," Emilie shares. "Ms. Prussing has been much more than a teacher to me and has been my supporter throughout all four of my years. Especially this year being Editor-in-Chief, I was given the opportunity to create the yearbook from the ground up, and Ms. Prussing guided me while allowing me to have creative freedom and truly capture the vision for this year. I will miss her as well as the entire yearbook family and all the memories and conversations we have shared. She encouraged me to always follow my dreams. When I decided to go to Auburn University and major in architecture, she was one of the first people I told. She was so excited for me which made me even more excited! She has truly impacted my life in the best way possible and that has been something that will shape me for the rest of my life. Love you always, Ms. Prussing!"
🎉Congratulations, Emilie! 🎉 We are so very proud of you!

Today's senior in the spotlight is Rafael J. Fanjul III of Martin County High School!
"Our family moved to Florida at the end of April 2020, so my son spent the end of his sophomore year and all of his junior year online due to the pandemic," Rafael's proud mother, Teresa Fanjul, shared. "His senior year was his first year in the school in person. Rafael is one of the bravest and most inspiring young people I have ever known."
Rafael suffers from a chronic condition that requires him to receive infusions with debilitating side effects. He spent his early life in and out of hospitals and schools. When he was 13 and finally diagnosed, his life changed. He began to excel in school and in life. At MCHS, he has been on the honor roll and takes honors courses. He applied to five universities and was accepted at four of them. He plans to attend Florida Atlantic University and pursue a degree in biochemistry. He'd like to become a pediatric anesthesiologist because he wants to give back to and help kids like himself.
"We are so proud of him and his academic achievements," Ms. Fanjul shared. "He has had to fight many times as hard as his peers. He has faced his illness bravely with no complaints. In addition to his academic success, he is a masterful baker. He has created some 'out of this world' recipes that our family raves about. Finally, he has a very dry sense of humor and drive for learning, both of these give him a wonderful and bright personality. We could not be more proud of our amazing son, who has fought so hard and come out on top. The picture I included is of young Rafael in front of a plane his great-grandfather flew. He loved aerospace and aviation when he was growing up."
🎉Congratulations, Rafael! 🎉 We are so very proud of you!
