🇺🇸HONORING OUR HEROES🇺🇸
Martin County High School Air Force JROTC Cadet Major Santiago Pacheco was selected as a Guardian for the Honor Flight program on Sept. 21, 2024.
Cadet Major Pacheco had the honor of a lifetime to escort a U.S. Coast Guard veteran from the Vietnam War to Washington, D.C. We are proud of this cadet's dedication to serving those who served our nation! 🇺🇸👏

🌎CELEBRATING A TRAILBLAZER🌎
We are beyond proud of Nina Goyal, a Martin County High School sophomore, who recently had the honor of speaking in front of the United Nations in New York about her groundbreaking science research! She is the first student from Martin County to do so!
Nina has been competing in the science fair since 2nd grade, and her love for science continues to grow. For the past four years, she has been working with the U.S. Department of Agriculture to develop a clean, sustainable and eco-friendly alternative to herbicides and pesticides.
She is a change-maker! Joins us in congratulating her incredible achievements! 👏

🌀EYE ON THE STORM🌀
**Update 2:15 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26: Schools and offices in the Martin County School District will reopen and return to normal operations on Friday, Sept. 27.
The District continues to carefully monitor local weather conditions alongside our partners at the Martin County Emergency Management Agency. We appreciate the patience and understanding of our families and employees as we navigated the uncertain weather conditions caused by Hurricane Helene. While we were forecasted to experience frequent high wind speeds, our District was fortunately spared from receiving severe damage. Our thoughts and prayers are with our fellow Floridians as Hurricane Helene continues to strengthen into an extremely powerful storm and head towards the West Coast.
It is important for our students to return to class as attendance is essential for their success. We look forward to welcoming everyone back and providing the best education.

The MCSD College Fair at Jensen Beach High School scheduled for tonight is cancelled due to inclement weather.

Congratulations to two well-deserved OPUS members! Zoey Meixner and Yesica Mateo-Andres made it into the ACDA (American Choral Directors Association) Honor Choir! Over 9,000 students from across the state auditioned and these two amazing singers were selected!! They will rehearse and perform with the selected 145 students at the end of this month in Orlando at our State ACDA Convention!

Cody Archer with the University of Central Florida continued our Guest Speaker Series today at MCHS! Students learned about opportunities available at UCF.

All District-operated schools and offices will be closed on Thursday, September 26, due to the forecasted impact of Hurricane Helene. This decision is based on the latest forecasts from the National Weather Service and local emergency management officials. Wind speeds throughout tomorrow morning in our area are projected to push the limits for safe school bus operation.

If you have not filled out a meal application form for this school year, please fill one out today. The grace period ended on Monday 9/23/24 and a new form needs to be filled out every school year. You may fill out an application online at Myschoolapps.com or request a paper application from the cafeteria.

🌀 EYE ON THE STORM 🌀
🚨Update - 12:15 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25: The Martin County School District will close all MCSD-operated schools and District offices on Thursday, September 26, 2024, due to Hurricane Helene.
The decision is based on the latest information from the National Weather Service and local emergency management officials. Wind speeds throughout the morning are projected to exceed limits for school bus operation, making it unsafe for transportation.
MCSD continues to work closely with local emergency management officials to track the storm and will provide further information regarding District operations beyond Thursday as it becomes available.
Families are urged to monitor the District's website at www.martinschools.org, social media channels, and the District's automated messaging system for updates. Families and employees wishing to receive text message notifications should text START to 98900.
As a reminder, all after-school activities are also canceled.
