🖋️ Exploring John Donne’s “Death Be Not Proud” with TPCASTT at MCHS! 💀✨
If you’ve walked by Dr. Gardineer’s classroom recently, you’ve seen some impressive student work analyzing John Donne’s famous poem, "Death Be Not Proud." 📜💭
Using the TPCASTT method, students have carefully dissected the poem, going beyond surface-level meaning to uncover its deeper themes: 🔍 Title (Predicting what the poem might be about), ✍️ Paraphrase (Restating key ideas in their own words), 🎭 Connotation (Exploring literary devices and techniques), 🎶 Attitude (Identifying the poem’s tone), 🔄 Shift (Noticing any changes in tone or theme), 🔎 Title (Reinterpreting on a deeper, metaphorical level)., and 🧠 Theme (What is Donne really saying about death?)
The walls outside Dr. Gardineer’s classroom are now filled with insightful analyses, showing how students can break down complex poetry and really understand what the poet is conveying about life, death, and everything in between. 🌟
Great job to all the students for their critical thinking and thoughtful interpretations! 🏅

🧬🌟 Exploring Cellular Respiration through a Gallery Walk! 🌟🧬
MCHS students in Ms. Parks's class brought their curiosity and collaboration skills to life with a Gallery Walk on cellular respiration! 🚶♀️🚶♂️ They moved around the classroom (and hallway!) to explore peer-created work, reading, reflecting, and discussing the key concepts behind how cells create energy. 💡🔋
This student-centered approach encouraged them to actively engage with the material, compare ideas, and dive deep into concepts like ATP, glucose, and mitochondria. 💥🔬 It was a day full of inquiry, critical thinking, and awesome teamwork!
👥 A huge shout-out to our learners for sharing their insights and learning from one another as they explored the science of life! 🌱💪

🖋️ Unleashing Creativity with Academic Lenses at MCHS! 💡
Students in Ms. Gill's class are taking brainstorming to the next level with the Cambridge technique of Academic Lenses! 🌟 The posters on display showcase the process of how students generate diverse ideas by using different "lenses" to approach their writing prompts. Each fingertip represents a different perspective, encouraging students to explore multiple angles and sources of evidence. 🤔
By using these lenses, students gather a rich range of ideas to support their formal essays, ensuring they bring depth and variety to their arguments. 📚✨
This is critical thinking in action – from brainstorming to powerful essays! 💥

🎤🏡 AVID Guest Speaker Steve Toussaint Inspires MCHS Students 🏡🎤
We were thrilled to welcome Steve Toussaint, a local graduate of South Fork High School and now a successful professional at Pulte Homes, as a guest speaker for our AVID students! 🌟 Steve’s journey from earning an AutoCAD certification in high school to becoming an architecture expert and graduate of the University of Central Florida is truly inspiring. 🖋️📐
Steve shared his passion for architecture and his path of continuous learning, reminding our students that the journey doesn’t stop after graduation—it's just the beginning. He encouraged them to take advantage of every opportunity, work hard, and never stop pursuing their dreams, just as he did. 🌱
Thank you, Steve, for giving back to the community and motivating our AVID students to dream big and build their futures! 🚀💡

📚✨ Exploring Poetry with TPCASTT! ✨📚
Students in Ms. Warenik's class are taking their poetry analysis to the next level with the TPCASTT method! This powerful tool helps them go beyond the surface of the poem and truly understand its deeper meaning. 💡
Here’s how it works: Title (before reading the poem), Paraphrase, Connotation, Attitude, Shifts, Title (revisited), and Theme.
By breaking down the poem with these steps, students are uncovering new layers of meaning, exploring emotions, and sharpening their critical thinking skills. 📖🔍
Great job to all the students for engaging deeply with the text and developing their analytical skills!
