๐Ÿ–‹๏ธ Exploring John Donneโ€™s โ€œDeath Be Not Proudโ€ with TPCASTT at MCHS! ๐Ÿ’€โœจ If youโ€™ve walked by Dr. Gardineerโ€™s classroom recently, youโ€™ve seen some impressive student work analyzing John Donneโ€™s famous poem, "Death Be Not Proud." ๐Ÿ“œ๐Ÿ’ญ Using the TPCASTT method, students have carefully dissected the poem, going beyond surface-level meaning to uncover its deeper themes: ๐Ÿ” Title (Predicting what the poem might be about), โœ๏ธ Paraphrase (Restating key ideas in their own words), ๐ŸŽญ Connotation (Exploring literary devices and techniques), ๐ŸŽถ Attitude (Identifying the poemโ€™s tone), ๐Ÿ”„ Shift (Noticing any changes in tone or theme), ๐Ÿ”Ž Title (Reinterpreting on a deeper, metaphorical level)., and ๐Ÿง  Theme (What is Donne really saying about death?) The walls outside Dr. Gardineerโ€™s classroom are now filled with insightful analyses, showing how students can break down complex poetry and really understand what the poet is conveying about life, death, and everything in between. ๐ŸŒŸ Great job to all the students for their critical thinking and thoughtful interpretations! ๐Ÿ… #JohnDonne #PoetryAnalysis #TPCASTT #StudentSuccess #MCHS #CriticalThinking #DrGardineer #LiteraryExploration #DeathBeNotProud #LearningInAction

๐Ÿ”โœจ MCHS Teachers Dive into WICOR Inquiry Strategies! โœจ๐Ÿ” Our MCHS teachers are on a mission to make learning more engaging and inquiry-driven with WICOR strategies! One powerful inquiry tool is See - Think - Wonder! ๐Ÿ’ก Here's how it works: ๐Ÿ‘€ See โ€“ Students start by observing the content and answering, "What do you see?" ๐Ÿ’ญ Think โ€“ Then, theyโ€™re asked to reflect, "What do you think is going on?" โ“ Wonder โ€“ Finally, students ask themselves, "What does this make you wonder?" This strategy encourages deep thinking, sparks curiosity, and invites students to explore new ideas with an open mind! ๐Ÿง โœจ We're excited to see how this approach will inspire our students to ask questions, engage critically, and unlock their own learning! ๐Ÿ™Œ #WICOR #InquiryLearning #ActiveThinking #EngageCuriosity #MCHSTeachers #TeachingStrategies #CriticalThinking #MCHS

๐Ÿฆ ๐Ÿ’€ A Journey Back in Time: MCHS Students Explore the Black Plague ๐Ÿ’€๐Ÿฆ  Ms. Southwick's class at MCHS researched one of the deadliest events in human historyโ€”the Black Plague. Students uncovered the terrifying impact of this medieval pandemic that changed the course of the world. From its sudden appearance in Europe in the 14th century to its devastating symptoms, the class learned how the plague spread, claimed millions of lives, and forever altered society. ๐Ÿ”Ž Key Insights: Introduction: The Black Plague first appeared in Europe in 1347, quickly spreading across the continent. Symptoms: Fever, chills, fatigue, and painful buboes (swollen lymph nodes), with many suffering agonizing deaths within days. Causes: Caused by the bacterium Yersinia pestis, transmitted by fleas on rats, which thrived in crowded, unsanitary conditions. Death Toll: An estimated 25-30 million people lost their lives in Europe alone, wiping out up to 60% of the population in some regions. ๐Ÿ’ก This study is more than just historyโ€”it's a lesson on the power of diseases and the resilience of humanity. Keep up the great work, students! #BlackPlague #HistoryInTheMaking #MCHSHistory #LearningThroughHistory #MCHS
