The Martin County School District is proud to celebrate our school social service workers in honor of National School Social Work Week!
Our School Social Service Workers are essential members of Team MCSD - they assist children, families, faculty and staff in creating a healthy and positive learning environment for all. They work tirelessly to identify and provide services to students (and their families) who face serious barriers to success, including poverty, disabilities, abuse, addiction and the loss of loved ones. We appreciate their professionalism, compassion and commitment to our students, families and schools!

Busy weekday mornings make it a challenge for many families to find time for a healthy breakfast. Fortunately, the Martin County School District offers nutritious school breakfasts, complete with fruit and low-fat or fat-free milk, to ensure students are fueled for learning every school day! 🥛🍎🍌🥞🥯
This year, the U.S. Department of Agriculture is allowing all children to receive school breakfast and lunch for free, without an application, so it’s a great time for families to give school breakfast a try.
The District's Food & Nutrition Services professionals and students will be encouraged to show their enthusiasm for school breakfast from March 7-11 as the district celebrates #NSBW22 with special menus, activities, and more!

MCSD's free, online tutoring platform ensures all middle and high school students have access to expert instructors across hundreds of subject areas 24 hours a day, 7 days a week! Students can even receive support and feedback as they work on essays, reports and scholarship applications.

📚CELEBRATING OUR HISTORY📚
As our celebration of #BlackHistoryMonth continues, we spotlight two brothers who were educational pioneers in Martin County, Charles E. and Robert G. Murray. Charles Murray founded the Stuart Training School in 1926 - this was the first high school for Black students in the county. He remained principal until 1939 when his brother, Robert, took over. Stuart Training School eventually became Spectrum Academy and Murray Middle School was named for the brothers.

Spectrum Academy and the Gertrude Walden Child Care Center excitedly resumed their Reading Buddy program just in time for #FLCelebratesLiteracy Week! This programs benefits both student groups, as older students are proud to be mentors and the younger students are in awe of their older role models.
In keeping with the Florida Department of Education's space theme for Celebrate Literacy Week, students began building their friendships by exploring books about our universe on Friday. 🚀🚀

Paper, our new online tutoring platform for students in grades 6-12, provides live access to professional tutors across more than 200 subject areas!
Each online educator is a Paper Education Company, Inc. employee who is trained in the Socratic teaching method and undergoes a criminal background check prior to employment. All student activity on the platform is recorded, tracked, and made readily available to teachers and administrators. Students can access help when they need it by signing in to ClassLink with their District credentials and clicking the "Paper" app.
