Thirty SF Physics students were invited by Pratt & Whitney to the Stuart Airshow STEM fair. They met pilots, engineers, & other professionals. The show featured exhibits that engaged students in aviation & technical aspects of our local news & emergency radio communications.

🛠️CONSTRUCTION WALK-THROUGH🛠️ Yesterday, Martin County School District's Superintendent of Schools Michael Maine, Deputy Superintendent Dr. Tracey Miller and Director of Facilities Mark Sechrist toured the construction sites at Stuart Middle School and South Fork High School. SMS: Mr. Maine, Dr. Miller and Mr. Sechrist walked through the construction area of the new administration and media center buildings, new cafeteria and new power plant building. The SMS site transformation also includes the new Boys & Girls Clubs of Martin County club located on the SMS campus, bringing students an innovative workforce collaboratory project. SFHS: The group toured the new gymnasium, which will be a state-of-the-art facility to house future sporting events, graduation and class. The gym will include office space, a common area, locker rooms and much more. 🍁THANKSGIVING BREAK UPDATE🍁 The Martin County School District would like to formally announce students and teachers will have Nov. 20-24 off for Thanksgiving Break. As noted in the Instructional Calendar, Nov. 20 and 21 were designated as emergency makeup days to ensure our students would receive the instruction in the event the District had to close schools due to storms or other unforeseen emergencies. The District has had no such situation creating a need to make up instructional time; therefore, those two days are included in Thanksgiving Break for students and teachers. The Martin County School Board approved the 2023-2024 School Calendar during its meeting on Nov. 22, 2022. Congratulations to Mrs. Gorton for winning MCSD High School Teacher of the Year! Ms. Gorton has been an educator at South Fork High School for five years. She holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Mathematics from the State University of New York at Potsdam and prides herself as a leader with strong organizational and prioritization skills with expertise in teaching math at all levels. Ms. Gorton is an esteemed educator in South Fork High School’s International Baccalaureate program. When she’s not educating her students to excel in and have a passion for mathematics, she is coaching Girls’ Cross Country and Track and leads the Student Government Association and Leadership. In her role as the Student Government Advisor, she assisted in achieving the title of the largest contributor to the Thanksgiving Basket Drive for four years and contributed thousands of dollars to local communities. Most recently, Ms. Gorton and her students championed a project to create a viable thrift store on campus, working towards a sustainable option to recycle South Fork spirit gear. "We are truly privileged to have such a remarkable educator at South Fork High School,” Interim Principal Jaime Thompson shared. “Ms. Gorton’s passion for mathematics has given students a newfound confidence in their abilities. She is also a true leader for our students, enabling positive change not only in the school but throughout the community.”

Annual constitutional debate sign-ups are underway. This competition aids in providing scholarships to the winner. Signups are due by November 17th.

🎃🐾SPOOKY BULLDOG SPIRIT🐾🎃 The South Fork High School Trunk-or-Treat was a spooktacular success! Students worked hard on their meticulously decorated car trunks and everyone came out in creative costumes. It was a ghostly good time! What made this event even more exceptional was that it went beyond candy and costumes. South Fork High School used this opportunity to give back to the community by supporting Hannah's Home of South Florida. ⭐MCSD ALUM SPOTLIGHT⭐ Earlier this year, Martin County High School alumna Sophie Araque-Liu, a.k.a. the 2022 Doodle for Google winner, was awarded a Florida High School Athletic Association scholarship! Sophie won the 2022-2023 Roger Dearing Heart of the Arts Award, a $1,500 scholarship, for her hard work and efforts in giving back to her community.
