🍎INVESTMENT IN KNOWLEDGE🍎
Earlier this year, the Martin County School Board adopted K-12 instructional materials for English Language Arts (ELA) that are fully aligned to the Florida Department of Education's new B.E.S.T. standards.
While school districts had the option of adopting only for grades K-2 this year, the School Board believed it was important to take the leap and invest in these materials for all grade levels.
"We could have adopted kindergarten through second grade," said Courtney Beard, the District's K-5 ELA Specialist. "But we decided to go big and go K-12."

🍎INVESTING IN LITERACY🍎
Earlier this year, the Martin County School Board adopted new K-12 instructional materials for ELA that are fully aligned to the Florida Department of Education's new B.E.S.T. standards. The complete curriculum adoption was funded in part with proceeds generated by the half-mill property tax referendum that was approved by Martin County voters in 2018.
WPTV's Stephanie Susskind recently visited Port Salerno Elementary School to take a look at how these new instructional materials are being launched throughout the District. Tune in tonight at 6 to learn more!

🛠️COMING FULL CIRCLE🛠️
"This week we are having our new scoreboard installed," Athletic Director Lauren Graff of Martin County High School shared. "It has been an extensive process and many companies were unwilling to take on the challenge. Arlington Electric Inc. took on this task with the help of Austin Buntz and Dylan Williams, members of South Fork High School's Class of 2020!"
After receiving hands-on Career & Technical Education (CTE) experiences at South Fork, both graduates are now proudly working as electrical apprentices. These are moments that we love to share! ⚖REAL-WORLD LEARNING⚖
Warfield Elementary School second grader Sadie Schupp recently wrote an informational piece on the role of Mayor in the Village of Indiantown. Sadie's class has been learning about government during ELA using the District's new Benchmark curriculum. Her learning in this unit inspired Sadie’s writing about the role of mayor. Mayor Clarke was happy to visit campus and hear Sadie's story. #ALLINMartin👊

Congratulations to these Jensen Beach Elementary School fourth graders who earned their pins for the school’s Energy Bus Principal’s Leadership Academy. This is an elite program focused on student advocacy and leadership skills. 💙💛🚌🚌💙💛

🍎#THANKANMCSDPRINCIPAL🍎
Teacher Susi Turzanski-Wilbanks is grateful for Riverbend Academy Principal Gary Sparks.
"Thank you, Mr. Sparks," she shares. "Words can not describe how much we appreciate you. Your compassion, dedication, and commitment to the well-being of our school community is indescribable. You have constantly taken on challenges - some unique and monumental - and found solutions by thinking outside the box. Equally important, you have continually shown gratitude and encouragement to all of us here at Riverbend. Your positive attitude and constant drive to move forward is inspiring. You have brought our Bobcat community to new heights by touching the lives of our children and staff on a team or by yourself. Additionally, you have been hugely instrumental as a hospital liaison to find better ways and solutions for our unusual circumstances. Riverbend is the only school in Martin County with this unique hospital-school environment. Many people have no knowledge of the countless hours of your involvement and dedication. These qualities are truly the mark of an altruistic leader. I want to publicly thank you for everything you do."
