In Austin's words - "I am grateful for all of my experiences over the years. Some of my best memories are of field days at J. D. Parker Elementary School, field trips to the Environmental Studies Council Center, being captain of the Varsity football team and playing in the District championship as well as the comeback game. I would like to thank my friends and family for everything, especially my mom, dad and brother. I would not be where I am today without the incredible people at J.D. Parker, who were the foundation of my love of learning. A huge shoutout to Mr. Thurman and Mr. Soviero, whose wisdom, humor guidance and encouragement have been instrumental in my time at JBHS." šŸŽ‰Congratulations, Austin! šŸŽ‰ We are so very proud of you! šŸŽ“ CELEBRATING ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE šŸŽ“ A Martin County High School senior has been named a recipient of the National Merit College-Sponsored Scholarship! The National Merit Scholarship Program is a renowned academic competition for recognition and scholarships that began in 1955. This yearā€™s competition began in October 2020 when high school juniors took the PSAT/NMSQT, which served as an initial screen of program entrants. Last fall, the highest-scoring participants in each state, representing less than one percent of our nationā€™s high school seniors, were named Semifinalists on a state-representational basis. From this group, some 15,000 students met the very high academic standards and other requirements to advance to the Finalist level of competition. Approximately 7,500 Finalists have earned the ā€œMerit Scholarā€ title and accompanying scholarships this school year.
