🚨PARTNERS IN SAFETY🚨
The following message was sent to MCSD families this evening via phone call:
Good evening, families. This is the Martin County School District calling with an important message about school safety.
As you may be aware, two minors were arrested early this morning in connection with online threats made about Martin County High School. Our District safety team and the Martin County Sheriff’s Office were made aware of the threats late last evening and immediately began investigating the source. The investigation continued overnight and resulted in the arrest of the two minors. Neither child attends school in the Martin County School District.
Parents – as our partners in safety, please continue to speak with your child on a regular basis about the important role we all play in keeping our campuses safe. The “see something, say something” rule played a critical role in this case, as being made aware of these horrible and extremely troubling social media postings allowed law enforcement to immediately investigate the threats and quickly make arrests. Please encourage your child to always report any suspicious activity they see or hear of to a teacher, administrator, School Resource Officer or another trusted adult on their campus. Students, parents and members of the community may also report tips via our Martin County School District mobile app, which is available in both the App Store and Google Play, as well as our website – www.martinschools.org. Submitted tips are received and investigated by District safety staff and law enforcement 24/7, and individuals may remain anonymous when reporting information if they would like. If your child has access to a mobile device or social media, please monitor their activity on a regular basis. Please remind them that threats of any nature are taken extremely seriously and will result in severe school-based consequences as well as criminal charges. There is no such thing as joking when it comes to these very serious matters.
The safety and security of our students and staff will always be the top priority of the Martin County School District. We appreciate the Martin County Sheriff’s Office for taking swift action last evening and overnight to investigate this incident and make the necessary arrests. Please do not hesitate to contact your child’s school if you have any questions about our campus safety and security procedures. We appreciate your family for being our partner in safety and education.

🚗PRACTICING SAFETY - PLEASE SHARE🚗
Families - please be mindful of these important carline guidelines. Students may not be dropped off or picked up anywhere other than the designated carline area for their school. Roadways and parking lots of area businesses are not appropriate or safe places for students to be dropped off or picked up. For efficiency, please plan to leave your home in time to be present in the carline at your child's school once the campus opens each day. Thank you for being our partner in safety.

Graduate Alison Bueso recently sent a text to Mrs. Neller about how well she is doing with her studies at Fortis College. Alison is studying to become a dental assistant.

🍎INDIVIDUAL SCORE REPORTS FOR SPRING 2021 ASSESSMENTS🍎
The Martin County School District has received students' individual score reports for Spring 2021 statewide assessments from the Florida Department of Education. Schools have sorted the reports - students' individual records will be sent home with them no later than tomorrow, October 4.
If your child took any of the following assessments last spring, please be on the lookout for the appropriate personal score report(s) in their belongings:
🍎English Language Arts (ELA), Mathematics or Science Florida Standards Assessment (FSA)
🍎Biology, U.S. History, Civics or Geometry End-of-Course Exam (EOC)
If your child took one or more FSAs or EOCs last school year and you have not received their individual score report(s) by tomorrow evening, please contact their school for assistance. As the score reports are distributed to school districts in hard copy format from the Florida Department of Education, they will not be available for viewing in the FOCUS Parent Portal.
A celebration for students who earned a perfect score on one or more of their statewide assessments is being planned for later in the fall.
