๐WEIGHING SCHOOL BOUNDARY OPTIONS๐
Story via TCPalm - The Martin County School Board still wants to redraw school boundaries for next school year, but a big question remains: who will be affected? At issue is whether the Board should focus solely on easing enrollments at the district's three high schools or also address elementary and middle school enrollments and zone boundaries.
The Boundary Advisory Committee has recommended the School Board address overcapacity at high schools. Of six possible options to redraw school zone boundaries โ based on current maps and enrollment and future growth projections โ the committee recommended three plans that impact only high schools. The other three options address elementary or middle schools.
Please click the link below to read more. The School Board's discussion will continue during its upcoming meeting at 4:00 p.m. on November 16.

๐INVESTMENT IN KNOWLEDGE๐
Earlier this year, the Martin County School Board adopted K-12 instructional materials for English Language Arts (ELA) that are fully aligned to the Florida Department of Education's new B.E.S.T. standards.
While school districts had the option of adopting only for grades K-2 this year, the School Board believed it was important to take the leap and invest in these materials for all grade levels.
"We could have adopted kindergarten through second grade," said Courtney Beard, the District's K-5 ELA Specialist. "But we decided to go big and go K-12."

๐INVESTING IN LITERACY๐
Earlier this year, the Martin County School Board adopted new K-12 instructional materials for ELA that are fully aligned to the Florida Department of Education's new B.E.S.T. standards. The complete curriculum adoption was funded in part with proceeds generated by the half-mill property tax referendum that was approved by Martin County voters in 2018.
WPTV's Stephanie Susskind recently visited Port Salerno Elementary School to take a look at how these new instructional materials are being launched throughout the District. Tune in tonight at 6 to learn more!

๐ ๏ธCOMING FULL CIRCLE๐ ๏ธ
"This week we are having our new scoreboard installed," Athletic Director Lauren Graff of Martin County High School shared. "It has been an extensive process and many companies were unwilling to take on the challenge. Arlington Electric Inc. took on this task with the help of Austin Buntz and Dylan Williams, members of South Fork High School's Class of 2020!"
After receiving hands-on Career & Technical Education (CTE) experiences at South Fork, both graduates are now proudly working as electrical apprentices. These are moments that we love to share! โREAL-WORLD LEARNINGโ
Warfield Elementary School second grader Sadie Schupp recently wrote an informational piece on the role of Mayor in the Village of Indiantown. Sadie's class has been learning about government during ELA using the District's new Benchmark curriculum. Her learning in this unit inspired Sadieโs writing about the role of mayor. Mayor Clarke was happy to visit campus and hear Sadie's story. #ALLINMartin๐

Congratulations to these Jensen Beach Elementary School fourth graders who earned their pins for the schoolโs Energy Bus Principalโs Leadership Academy. This is an elite program focused on student advocacy and leadership skills. ๐๐๐๐๐๐
