⚾FALCONS SOAR⚾
While the Jensen Beach High School Baseball team enjoyed its most successful season in history this year, it was the Falcons' accomplishments off the field and in the classroom that helped them SOAR to new heights.
They finished the season as the Florida High School Athletic Association's Class 4A runners up AND the overall academic team champion, maintaining a higher cumulative GPA than any other Florida baseball team in their class.

🚨SPOTLIGHT ON SAFETY🚨
On Tuesday, Gov. Ron DeSantis signed HB 1421, which includes both safety and mental health requirements for public schools in Florida.
One of those requirements involves school districts having a board-approved reunification plan in case of an emergency.
The Martin County School District put an evacuation and reunification system in place for emergencies well before it became a requirement in the new school safety law.

🎉CELEBRATING YOUTH LEADERSHIP🎉
Congratulations to Ridge Bradford, a Jensen Beach High School student, for winning the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Palm Beach and Martin Counties Big Teen of the Year!
Ridge has been a Big Teen for two Little Brothers, Michael and Leo, for the past two years. He has one special connection with both of them: baseball. Because of their love for the sport, the boys have a lot in common and easily bonded over baseball, school and life.
Leaders, peers and Littles say that overall, Ridge is a great volunteer and motivated student athlete. He offers excellent advice to his Little Brothers. They say his positive attitude and “can do” mentality keep his Little Brothers set on the right track. Ridge sees the opportunity that playing sports and excelling in school offer toward his future, and he encourages Michael and Leo to follow in his footsteps.

📚SUMMER READING FUN📚
Good news! Florida’s first sales tax exemption period on children’s books is now underway and doesn't end until Sunday, August 14, 2022.
That means if your child is joining MCSD's Summer Reading Challenge, their books could have a sales tax exemption!
What is considered a children's book under this sales tax exemption period? Any fiction or nonfiction book primarily intended for children ages 12 or younger,
including any board book, picture book, beginning reader book, juvenile chapter book, middle-grade book or
audiobook on CD or tape.
Let's get to reading!

In 2018, voters approved a half-mill property tax referendum to fund critical operational needs throughout the District. The School Board would like to know which types of initiatives you think should be implemented or continued if the millage renewal is approved by voters in August 2022.
It's important to note that if the renewal is approved, the referendum will simply continue. There would be no increase in property taxes for home or business owners.

☀️DIFFERENCE MAKERS AND WORLD CHANGERS☀️
3rd-grade gifted students at Felix A. Williams Elementary turned their yearly study on U.S. Regions into a "make-sale," and raised more than $500 for local non-profits!
Students worked in teams and combined research, lessons in geography and economics, and their unique creative gifts and talents to make regional themed items like magnets, keychains, artwork, sculptures, necklaces, and more. Each team then researched and picked a local nonprofit for their store to benefit. 100% of profits from the make sale went to Hibiscus Children's Center, The Humane Society of the Treasure Coast, Students4H2O, Caring Fields Felines and the Environmental Studies Center. A representative from each organization came out to collect donations and share information with families during the make-sale.
These students show us all that we are all able to be #differencemakers and #worldchangers in our own ways and that we are able to achieve so much when we work together.

One of the Martin County School District's very own will be on WPTV tonight (5/26/22) for being the winner for Florida in the Doodle for Google Student Contest.
K-12 students from across the United States had the opportunity to create their own version of the Google logo inspired by the prompt, "I care for myself by..."
Sophie Araque-Liu, a junior at Martin County High School, got a surprise visit from Google to find out she was the state's winner, and it was all caught on camera.
