📆HURRICANE MAKEUP DAYS📆 Reminder for families: Hurricane season doesn't officially end until Nov. 30. As we near the end of the season, we want to remind Martin County families of the scheduled Emergency Makeup Days built into the 2023-2024 School Calendar. We are also nearing the first set up Emergency Makeup Days on our Instructional Calendar, which precedes Thanksgiving Break (Nov. 20-21). These days may be used to make up instructional time in the event we need to close for one or more storms. IF we do NOT experience any emergency situations or storms requiring us to use one or more of these Emergency Makeup Days, those two days will be added to Thanksgiving Break, giving students the week away from school (Nov. 20-24). At this time, that appears to be the case. If we experience conditions that would necessitate making up one or more school days, we will provide notice of the appropriate date(s) to families and employees as soon as possible. The Martin County School Board approved the 2023-2024 School Calendar during its meeting on Nov. 22, 2022. 🍎🎮LEVELING UP LUNCH🎮🍎 Let's get ready to level up with school lunch! Celebrate National School Lunch Week with the Martin County School District during Oct. 9-13! Our Food and Nutrition Services teams have been practicing their gaming skills and perfecting the menus for their schools. National School Lunch Week highlights the nutritious foods available daily at each school in the District. It's also a chance to bring awareness of the importance of healthy food choices at school. “School lunches offer students fruits and vegetables, whole grains and milk, and meet federal nutrition standards limiting fat, calories and sodium,” said Laura Holmedal, MCSD's Director of Food and Nutrition Services. “National School Lunch Week helps us educate parents and students about all the wonderful benefits of our lunch program.” Read more about how the District is celebrating National School Lunch Week here: https://www.martinschools.org/article/1264008 #ALLINMartin👊 #NSLW2023 #LevelUpWithSchoolLunch

🪴🛠️PLANTING KNOWLEDGE🛠️🪴 Five Martin County School District plant operators recently ventured to the annual Florida School Plant Management Association (FSPMA) conference to grow their job knowledge and skills. Steve Miller (The Pinewood Elementary), Gilberto Calderon (Bessey Creek Elementary School), Jonathan Sequiera (Crystal Lake Elementary School), Edgardo Rivera (Jensen Beach Elementary School), and Dana Martin (SDO) attended the conference along with our Safety Manager, Mark Cocco. They learned important health and safety updates from the Florida Department of Education and engaged in learning about maintenance and proper groundskeeping. Steve Miller was lucky enough to even participate in the podcast "Beyond Clean with ACE!" We look forward to the knowledge plant operators will be sharing after the conference. Shoutout to MCSD Professional Learning Department for making this trip happen! #ALLINMartin👊 #MCSDBetterTogether💫
