🍎HONORING AN OUTSTANDING EDUCATOR🍎
New year, new title!
Ms. Nikki Zech of Bessey Creek Elementary School has been named the 2022 Literacy Teacher of the Year for the Martin County School District! The Florida Literacy Association - FLA's K-12 Literacy Teacher of the Year Award is presented annually to an individual who has made significant contributions in the teaching of reading and literacy. Ms. Zech was selected as the District's award winner for her contributions to helping new and veteran teachers with curriculum, and ensuring every K-2 student has the opportunity to grow in literacy and every 3rd-grade student becomes a proficient reader.

Due to Hurricanes Ian and Nicole, students enrolled in the Martin County School District have missed four (4) days of instruction this school year. In an effort to maximize instructional time and mitigate learning loss, the decision has been made to use two of the Hurricane Makeup Days that are included on the 2022-2023 instructional calendar.

🍎DISTRICT TO REOPEN ON MONDAY, NOVEMBER 14🍎
Fortunately, our schools and facilities were spared the brunt of Hurricane Nicole. Our Facilities and Maintenance Departments are working to address minor repairs and clean up debris before reopening.
The District will return to normal operations on Monday, November 14, 2022.
