💗 CHARACTER COUNTS! 💗 In partnership with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Martin County, the Martin County School District is proud to announce the revitalization of an important program that will contribute to #MCSDTheRippleEffect and reframe how mental wellness support is delivered to students. "Character Counts! is not new to the Martin County School District," Superintendent John D. Millay shared during a kickoff event held at the Palm City Chamber of Commerce last week. "When I say we're revitalizing it, we're bringing it front and center." 👀Watch the video: https://youtu.be/nys26EwXCYo #ALLINMartin👊 #PublicSchoolProud

Sending Good Will to the West Coast Spearheaded by Kindergarten teacher Mrs. Katie Spohr, CGE teachers rallied this week to collect school supplies for those impacted by Hurricane Ian in September. Lee, Charlotte, and DeSoto counties are working together to return a sense of normalcy to students . DeSoto, a small county north of Lee, had two schools wiped out, and many others are in desperate need for classroom supplies. The large collection collected by CGE will be delivered with the help of the MCEA, working in conjunction with Martin Retired Educators. Shown (l to r): Ms. Harris, Mrs. Duncan, Ms. Dunn, Mrs. Spohr, Ms. Danner, and Mrs. Reinhart help prepare supply donations for schools hit by Hurricane Ian.

🚄ALL ABOARD FOR SAFETY🚄 Starting Monday, October 17, Brightline will begin testing its trains at speeds up to 110mph in Martin County. Families, employees and community members should be alert and follow all traffic laws when traveling around railroad tracks and crossings. MCSD recently spoke with a Brightline representative to gather important safety tips and learn what our community can expect. It's here! Our bright orange, eye-catching, CGE book vending machine officially opened today! Lisa Rhodes, the Executive Director of the Education Foundation of Martin County, and representatives from US Sugar, sponsors of the vending machine program, joined us, along with Superintendent Dr. Millay, and School Board Member Michael DiTerlizzi. Top readers from each grade level participated in the event and used a token to choose a new book prize from the machine. Mrs. Richardson cut the yellow ribbon then Penelope Carter, our top MCSDReads reader with over 280 points, had the honor of using the first token. We are incredibly thankful for this gift, which comes with thousands of books to keep it filled all year. Every time a student earns 25 points a token is earned. We will use the next few days to get tokens and new book prizes into the hands of our students who are already in Point Clubs. In the meantime, keep reading Diamondbacks! We can't wait until it's your turn to use the book vending machine!

🚨SAFETY FIRST🚨 Families - please ensure your child wears their school-issued ID badge daily. These ID badges are an essential component of our overall safety plan. In addition, your child's badge allows them to easily perform certain school-related functions, such as boarding/exiting their school bus, purchasing meals or checking out materials from the media center. If your child needs a new badge, please contact their school. #ALLINMartin👊 #PublicSchoolProud
