FREE ADMISSION to the Martin County Fair and Youth Livestock Show on Monday, Feb. 12! You read that right! Martin County School District students will have free admission to the fair on Monday, Feb. 12, between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. when they show their Student's Day Passport at the gate. Students can grab their passport book from their teacher or with the link below. Students can get stamps from any four activities and return the passport to their teacher for PBIS/Student Engagement points! Remember, Monday, Feb. 12 is a teacher workday, so students have the day off. What better way to spend the day than at the fair, for free! This flyer is NOT the actual passport. 🐝STELLAR SPELLERS SHINE🐝 The Martin County School District held the 58th Annual Lillian A. Dassori Elementary Spelling Bee last night at Martin County High School. Three students from each of the elementary schools in the District participated in 10 rounds of competition, taking on challenging words such as "eclectic," "sudsy," and "anaconda." Felix A. Williams Elementary 4th-grade student Rafael Pedrosa was named Spelling Bee Champion, acing the winning word "avocado." 🔔NEW START TIMES FOR THE 24-25 SCHOOL YEAR🔔 The Martin County School Board approved new school start times for the 2024-2025 School Year during its regular Board Meeting tonight. Florida HB 733, passed in 2023, requires school districts to comply with new middle and high school start times beginning with the 2026-2027 school year. To comply with the legislation, Martin County School District school start and end times have been adjusted for the 2024-2025 school year. Because we are implementing the new times before the mandated year (2026-2027), the District will receive funds from the Florida Department of Education, which a portion of will be used to purchase a school bus tracking system for families. This system will allow verified parents and guardians to see when the bus will arrive at its stop in the mornings and afternoons, and if there are any delays along the route. TOWN HALL ON ALL THINGS EDUCATION 📣📚 The Martin County School District is hosting a series of town hall sessions designed to engage our local community in conversations about issues impacting education. Sessions will be held in each area of our community. The first session will take place on Wednesday, January 17, at 6:00 p.m. at J.D. Parker Elementary School. Felix A. Williams Elementary is ready to welcome future students and provide families with all of the information needed to prepare for kindergarten during its upcoming Kindergarten Blast Off orientation event. Parents/caregivers of children who will be five (5) years old on or before September 1, 2024, are invited to visit their home-zoned school at 5:30 p.m. on February 7, 2024. Families will have the opportunity to tour their child's future school, meet the leadership team, visit a kindergarten classroom and learn more about how they can prepare their child for success in elementary school.

📣SHARE YOUR FEEDBACK📣 The Martin County School District seeking your feedback about a potential year-round school pilot program. What is year-round school? Year-round school does NOT mean students will be in the classroom for more days. Instead, the mandated 180 days of instruction are spread throughout the year, changing the duration and timeframes of breaks. In May, Governor Ron DeSantis signed HB 891 into law, establishing a four-year pilot program for year-round schooling. To contemplate joining the program (which starts in the 2024-2025 school year), the District was required to apply by the Florida Department of Education. The District has initially identified Warfield Elementary, Pinewood Elementary, Port Salerno Elementary, and Indiantown Middle as potential schools to participate in the pilot program.
