๐Ÿšค๐Ÿ’ฆ Sink or Swim: FAWE Takes on the Cardboard Boat Challenge! ๐Ÿ˜‚ FAWE had a splashing good time at the Martin County School District cardboard boat race! Students Autumn and Isla Kelly used STEAM skills to design and build an amazing vessel out of cardboard and masking tape. They also learned that sailfish are meant for the water ๐ŸŒŠ๐Ÿ˜‚ and the FAWE boat took that a little too seriously. It made a spectacular splash as it sank, sending Principal Mrs. Tuthill and student Autumn Kelly in for an unexpected swim. A soggy, hilarious, and unforgettable adventure all around! ๐Ÿšฃโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ’™

๐ŸŒธ๐Ÿฆ‹ A Garden That Teaches & Inspires ๐Ÿฆ‹๐ŸŒธ 5th graders in our gifted program have been hard at work bringing new plants and enrichment items to FAWE's Monarch Waystation! As part of their commitment to care for the butterfly garden, students created a one-of-a-kind library house filled with their own research on native Florida butterflies. Each student designed an infographic to teach others about butterfly life cycles, host and nectar plants, and how to identify each species. This butterfly garden is not just beautiful, but a hands-on learning space for everyone at FAWE to enjoy! To make the space even more inviting, students replanted butterfly-friendly greenery, added books and investigation tools, and decorated the library house with their own painted butterflies. Their creativity and care have turned the garden into a place to slow down, explore, and discover โœจ Thank you Mrs. Kelly for your guidance and facilitation of this wonderful project!

๐ŸŒŽ๐ŸŒฟ From the moment Nature Club started today, there was a buzz of excitement, wonder, and hands-on discovery. It truly felt like a "best day ever" for our young nature lovers. ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’š Our explorers loved learning from guest expert Amanda Purnell from Friends of the Everglades, who showed them how scientists study birds through bird banding. They even got to make their own bird bandโ€“style bracelets and bring a little creativity to life with Roseate Spoonbill artwork after hearing a book about Rosie! One of the best parts of the day was heading outside to hike the FAWE Nature trail with teachers and our Vice Principal, Mr. Browning. Students slowed down, explored the beautiful trail, and really took in the amazing plants and animals around them. With binoculars, they spotted birds and other wildlife near the water. It was such a peaceful, hands-on way to connect with nature. And of courseโ€ฆthere was a little excitement too! Mr. Browning shared fish he caught in a cast net, and the kids were absolutely fascinated. Let's just say it definitely made for a "splashing" good time ๐ŸŸ๐Ÿ’ฆ Moments like these are a beautiful reminder of what Earth Day is all about ๐ŸŒŽ๐Ÿ’š At FAWE, we want our students to slow down, notice the world around them, and โœจtruly seeโœจ the beauty in it - from the smallest creatures to the ecosystems right in our own backyard (or playground!). Through experiences like Nature Club, our FAWE students are not just learning about wildlife, theyโ€™re learning to care for it, protect it, and be thoughtful stewards of our planet. We couldn't be more proud. Shout-out to all of the FAWE staff members who volunteered their time to make this club possible for our kindergarten through fifth graders. We have the most incredible, most caring, most mission focused team here at FAWE and that is just another thing we are celebrating today ๐Ÿฅณ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’š๐ŸŒŽ #FAWEProud #FAWEFamily #FAWENatureClub #WildlifeAndConservation #PlaceBasedLearning

๐Ÿ’œ Purple Up! ๐Ÿ’œ

Today, our Sailfish students and staff proudly wore purple to show support for our militaryโ€‘connected students and families. Wearing purple is a visible way to say thank you and to recognize the strength and resilience of military children.
Purple represents all branches of the U.S. military, coming together as one: Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, and Space Force. ๐Ÿ’œ
April is also recognized as the Month of the Military Child, honoring the important role military children play in supporting their families and strengthening our community.
We are grateful for our military families and proud to stand with them today and always. โš“๏ธ๐Ÿ’œ
