🍎OBSERVING TEACHING AND LEARNING🍎
Superintendent John D. Millay and members of the District's instructional leadership team continued their learning walks this week, with visits to Felix A. Williams Elementary School and Palm City Elementary School occurring on Tuesday. Learning walks allow staff to observe teaching and learning, celebrating best practices while identifying opportunities for improvement.
"The observation of teaching, learning and student engagement throughout the District will continue to inform our decisions and practices," Dr. Millay shared. "What we are able to see and hear from teachers, students and support personnel is invaluable."

Don’t forget to bring in your plastic bags- drop off in the Science Lab during Related Arts! Everyday is Earth Day at FAWE ♻️🌎

Start With Hello- Random Acts of Kindness Day at FAWE! Today, students will be learning about how small acts of kindness can help lift others up and make the world a better, happier place. We will intentionally practice being kind with one another.

#StartWithHello kicked off at FAWE today with students focusing on ways to "break the ice" with a friend who might seem lonely or isolated. Students chose topics that were easy and fun to talk about, such as their favorite food to eat. These topics help to find things in common to help make a new friend.

Start With Hello Kickoff Day is here! Today, students will learn all about why at FAWE, we start with hello. They will learn and practice 3 simple steps to help them feel more comfortable breaking the ice and having conversations with peers.

No matter how the cookie may crumble, FAWE Staff will always SAIL! Cookie treats were provided to help close out the week🍪💚🍪💙

Second grade wrapped up ELA Unit 1 Plant and Animal Habitats. The culminating project was to write a post card to a special friend. Mrs. Hollinger’s students wrote some neat new facts, addressed, stamped, and mailed our post cards c/o Ms. Guerra’s mailbox at FAWE. 💙💚 While some of the recipients of these post cards are family pets… we truly enjoyed sharing all of our new knowledge in the form of mail!

FAWE's annual "Start With Hello" week is coming up on Sept. 20-24th. Start with Hello is a prevention program, inspired by the Sandy Hook Promise that teaches children and teens how to be more socially inclusive and connected to each other. Start with Hello asks students, educators, parents, and community members who interact with children to take steps in the classroom, the lunchroom, recess, and other times in their day to be intentionally inclusive and connected to each other. FAWE has blazed the trail for the program to be shared in all MCSD schools over the years. We are #FAWEPROUD and excited to be #ALLINMartin!

Thank you FAWE PTA and Fisheye Graphics for providing two new banners to show off our school spirit #FAWEPROUD and to help
promote participation at the School Advisory Council (SAC) meetings💚💙

To help learn more about place value, Mrs. Hollinger’s class used some snacks as manipulatives to help us build numbers! We used graham crackers at hundreds flats, pretzel sticks as tens rods, and mini marshmallows as ones units. This kinesthetic learning activity helped us understand place value even better. 💙💚

FAWE Fall Individual Picture Days will be Sept. 22nd for PreK, VPK, Gr. K-2 and Sept. 23rd for Gr. 3-5.
