🦈 Shark Scholars, Get Ready for FAST Testing! 🦈

Our Sharks are gearing up for the upcoming FAST Assessment, and we are so proud of the hard work and dedication they’ve shown all year!

📅 On April 7th, our Shark Scholars will be taking their FAST assessment. Families can help set students up for success by making sure they:

✅ Bring a fully charged laptop
✅ Get a good night’s sleep
✅ Enjoy a healthy breakfast before arriving at school

Your support makes a big difference, and we are excited to see our scholars showcase all they’ve learned!

If you applied to attend a Martin County School District school through School Choice by March 31, your application status is live in the FOCUS Parent Portal—go check it out! 👀

Don’t forget: you’ve got 10 days to accept your spot. Once you do, your student can stay at that school all the way through the highest grade offered! Brand new to MCSD? After accepting, you will need to complete the New Student Registration process in FOCUS. (Details here: https://bit.ly/3Z1Ny6E)

What better way to kick off our first week back from Spring Break than welcoming families on campus for lunch! Today, more than 40 parents took time out of their day to visit HOMS and share a meal with their scholar. Moments like these truly highlight the strong bond between our school, families, and community. We are grateful for the continued partnership and support that makes HOMS such a special place to learn and grow. 💙🦈

🐬 Shark Pride on the State Stage! 🧮🦈 During spring break, four of our amazing Shark scholars traveled to Daytona Beach to compete in the State MathCounts Competition—and they represented Hidden Oaks Middle School with excellence and determination! 👏 Congratulations to Connor DelBarco-Unger, Jackson Friedrichs, Kayla Glancy, and Brian Wang for their hard work and dedication. A special shout-out to Brian and Kayla, who both placed in the top 100 students statewide! Our team finished 30th out of 40 teams, competing against over 240 students from across the state—an incredible accomplishment! We are super proud of these Sharks and their commitment to academic excellence. 🦈💙

🦈🎉 PBIS Shark Jam = SUCCESS! 🎉🦈

Today we celebrated all the AMAZING positive choices our Shark Scholars have been making at our annual PBIS Shark Jam! Even a little rain couldn’t stop the fun — our students made the most of the day playing throughout the gym, hanging out in the courtyard, enjoying great snacks, and treating themselves to Jeremiah’s Italian Ice before heading off to Spring Break!

As we officially close out Quarter 3, we couldn’t be more proud of the hard work, growth, and positive behaviors our scholars have shown all year long. Moments like today remind us how special our Hidden Oaks community truly is. 💙

Learning never stops at Hidden Oaks Middle School—even with Spring Break less than 8 hours away! 🦈💥 Today, Mrs. Kendall’s 7th grade science scholars were deep in review as they wrapped up the 3rd nine weeks. The collaboration, academic talk, and energy during their 7‑station sticky note review was truly off the charts! Scholars were actively dissecting their understanding of the circulatory system, nervous system, reproductive system, and bacteria—thinking critically, explaining their reasoning, and learning from one another every step of the way. This is what engaged learning looks like, and it makes us incredibly #SharkProud. Our Attendance Prize Patrol hit the road yesterday, surprising the winners of the recent Present for Success contest! 🚗🎉

Once again, every traditional school in our A-rated District reached 90% or higher attendance—a reflection of the commitment our students, staff, and families bring every day. Special congrats to:

Assistant Superintendent Dr. Lisa Estevez and members of the Student Services team (Director Deb Riley, Coordinator Guillermo Orozco, and specialists Derrell McColister and Jenny Champagne) stopped by each campus to deliver the trophies and celebrate these schools for showing up and leading the way in attendance.

Future Sharks, We’re Ready for You! Stop 1/3 complete! Today was an exciting step toward August as our future 6th graders got a warm Hidden Oaks Middle School welcome! School Counselor Mrs. Romano and Principal Mr. Forte had the pleasure of visiting Palm City Elementary to meet with our amazing fifth-grade scholars. We spent time talking about the transition to middle school—class schedules, elective opportunities, clubs, and athletics—while answering questions and easing those first-day nerves. The excitement was real, and the future is bright! We cannot wait to see these PCE scholars walking the halls of Hidden Oaks Middle School this August.
