Students worked together to tackle two-digit addition problems, sharing strategies, persevering through challenges, and learning from one another along the way. We loved seeing their focus, confidence, and collaboration as they strengthened their math skills!

🍎✨ Apple Day in Kindergarten! ✨🍎
We had the BEST time learning all about apples! Our little scientists explored the parts of an apple, learned about the apple life cycle, measured the height of our apples, counted apple seeds, made apple volcanoes 🌋🍎, and made predictions about whether our apples would sink or float! 🌊
And of course, we ended our day with some delicious apple tasting and homemade apple pie in a cup! 🥧🍎
So much learning, experimenting, predicting, counting, measuring, and tasting all in one sweet day!

Join the JBE Eco-Action Team and Martin MPO on Wednesday, October 7th at 7:10 AM as we kick off the day with some fresh air, movement, and school spirit!
Students and families are encouraged to walk, bike, or roll to school and help us celebrate healthy habits, safe routes, and a fun start to the morning.

Our Vikings had the opportunity to cash in the Viking Vouchers they’ve been earning through PBIS for a special Retro Recess celebration! Students enjoyed some old-school recess fun while celebrating the positive choices and behaviors that helped them earn their vouchers.

Many of our families already know Ms. Dodge! She joined our second grade team at the beginning of the school year as a long-term substitute, and we are so excited to share that she has officially transitioned into the full-time teaching position with her class! 💙💛
A graduate of the University of Miami, Ms. Dodge first pursued a corporate career before following her lifelong goal of becoming an elementary teacher. She is passionate about helping students become the best versions of themselves while creating a warm, welcoming classroom where every child feels valued, supported, and confident.

Our 2nd grade mathematicians are building their addition skills by using number lines to add two-digit numbers! Students are learning to break numbers apart, make jumps by tens and ones, and use efficient strategies to solve problems with confidence.
These strategies are helping our Vikings strengthen their understanding of place value while developing the problem-solving skills they’ll continue to use as mathematicians. We love seeing their thinking in action! 🌟📚

To wrap up Topic 2, students put their math skills to work in a fun, real-world way. They practiced handling money, adding and subtracting multi-digit decimals, calculating totals, and making change, all while running their very own classroom café!
