The Beach Announcements: Thursday, May 4, 2023. Tomorrow, Friday, the Lyric Theater will host the Youth Driven Cinema film festival. Students from around the county have created films that focus on environmental issues. Several of our own Falcons are finalists for this event. Come on down at 6:30 this Friday, May 5th, and support your fellow artists. Admission is free, and you might even get to talk to Mr. Heinz! Seniors, please return all library books and textbooks no later than Thursday, May 11th. Senior fees will be uploaded to FOCUS no later than Friday, May 12th. "Kav is a National Merit Scholar and JBHS's Senior Class President who has benefitted from the excellent teachers at JBHS and the AP Capstone program," proud mom Kelly shared. "Kav would like to give a shout out to all of his amazing teachers throughout his educational career and especially Mr. Pigott and Ms. Hockensmith, for their ongoing encouragement and support. Kav loves spending time with friends and enjoys a variety of hobbies such as playing golf, following the NFL/NBA, learning about new and classic films and solving puzzles." ⚖️COURT IS IN SESSION⚖️ On Friday, April 14th, three teams of two students from Jensen Beach High School, Martin County High School and South Fork High School competed in the final stage of the 2023 Constitutional Debate Competition. The three teams chose which side they wanted to defend in the Supreme Court Case No. 21-418, Kennedy v. Bremerton School District. Each team was given two minutes of opening and closing statements with a question and answer session from Fourth District Court of Appeal Judge Alan Forst and 19th Judicial Circuit County Judge Kathleen Roberts in between. After the teams presented, the judges went to their chambers at the YMCA of The Treasure Coast to make a decision. They say it was a very difficult decision, but ultimately, the judges ruled the team of Laurali Firestone and Nira Goyal came away as the winners. 🥇Laurali Firestone & Nira Goyal-- Martin County High School 🥈Courtney Jones & Joshua Eatman--Jensen Beach High School 🥉Benjamin McCulley & Dexter Paulson-- South Fork High School Thank you to the judges for taking time out of their busy schedules to be part of this process.
