Students recently put their investigative skills to the test during a hands-on mock crime scene activity that challenged them to analyze evidence, develop theories, and avoid jumping to conclusions.
The mystery began when students were presented with a scenario in which Mrs. Rivers failed to report to work and was not answering her phone. Security footage showed her entering a classroom at 3:30 p.m. the day before, but there was no footage of her leaving. To make matters even more suspicious, Mr. Dennis was absent as well, and what appeared to be blood was found throughout the classroom.
With these clues, many students quickly concluded that Mr. Dennis must have been involved!
But as real investigators know, the first theory is not always the correct one.
After carefully examining all the evidence, students uncovered the actual sequence of events:
✅ Mrs. Rivers was scheduled to meet with Mr. Dennis and several other teachers after school to review new Schoology features.
✅ While preparing a mock crime scene and gathering fake blood for an upcoming blood-spatter lab, Mrs. Rivers suddenly experienced a severe nosebleed.
✅ While trying to stop the bleeding, she accidentally bumped into a table and knocked over a container of fake blood, creating a much larger mess.
✅ As the confusion unfolded, Mrs. Bennett accidentally stepped through the mixture of real and fake blood and tracked it through the classroom.
✅ Later that evening, Mrs. Rivers took a dose of Benadryl after experiencing allergy symptoms and concerns about another nosebleed.
✅ The medication caused her to oversleep the next morning, resulting in her absence from work.
What initially appeared to be a crime scene was actually a series of unfortunate accidents and misunderstandings!
This engaging lesson taught students an important real-world skill: evidence matters more than assumptions. By slowing down, considering all possibilities, and carefully analyzing the facts, students learned how investigators, scientists, and critical thinkers separate speculation from reality.
Great job to our student detectives for keeping an open mind and letting the evidence tell the story!

Attention Tigers! This announcement is ONLY for students who have registered for an AICE fall retake or students currently enrolled in AICE Classical Studies who will be taking the exam for the first time.
📅 Exam dates and the tutoring schedule are available on the Schoology Cambridge AICE Group and the Cambridge AICE webpage. Please review your testing schedule carefully and be sure to attend every date listed for your subject. Many AICE exams are administered over multiple days, so it is important not to miss any portion of your exam.
📚 Need a little extra preparation? Take advantage of the available tutoring opportunities to help you feel confident and ready for success!

Friendly reminder that there's about one week left to complete community service hours for the Martin County School District Student Service Challenge!
40 students will receive a $500 scholarship toward their future. To qualify, students must:
✅ Complete 20 hours of community service by October 2, 2026
✅ Submit an essay about civic leadership and responsibility
✅ Be enrolled in a Martin County public or charter school
If your student is already working on their hours, now is the time to get those last hours in! If they haven’t started yet, there’s still time to serve their community and qualify.

Open the Destiny Follett app in ClassLink to access your school account.
2. Select "My Stuff"

3. Check Your "Patron Status"
Patron Status will show all library books, textbooks, and technology items currently checked out to you.
4. Review Item Status
Overdue items will appear in red and be marked "Overdue."
What If I Have Overdue or Lost Items?
✅ Return overdue materials to the Library Media Center as soon as possible.
✅ If an item has been lost, bring cash or a check payable to MCHS to the Library Media Center for processing.
✅ Some overdue items may belong to a previous school you attended. Visit the Library Media Center, and we'll help you explore your options for returning materials or resolving fines from another school within the district.

Our MCHS Tigers had a memorable opportunity to celebrate Constitution Week through a special series of assemblies that brought history, citizenship, and patriotism to life.
Students were captivated as the MCHS Drama Department performed selections from Hamilton, showcasing the events, ideas, and individuals who helped shape our nation and its democratic principles. Their talented performances made history engaging, meaningful, and relevant for today's learners.
The program also featured students who demonstrated the proper ceremonial folding of an American flag, teaching their peers about the traditions, symbolism, and respect associated with this important patriotic practice.
A special thank you to Coach Thompson for organizing these meaningful Constitution Week events and helping create authentic learning experiences for our students. We also extend our appreciation to Ms. McNiel and our talented Drama students for their incredible performances and dedication.
Experiences like these help our Tigers better understand the rights, responsibilities, and freedoms that make our nation strong.

I am writing to inform you of another threat reported today involving Martin County High School. The threat was quickly determined to be not credible, and the Martin County Sheriff’s Office has identified an individual believed to be responsible. Based on the current status of the investigation, an arrest appears imminent. Any student found to have been involved will face severe disciplinary action in addition to legal consequences.
Immediately after the report was received through FortifyFL, the Sheriff’s Office began investigating the information and quickly identified its apparent source.
We understand the frustration families may experience when communication is not immediate. During an active law enforcement response, however, the District must comply with law enforcement directives while working to verify the facts. Our priority is to provide families with information that is accurate and responsible—not to issue incomplete or unconfirmed messages that may create additional confusion or interfere with an investigation.
Although today’s situation unfolded quickly and was resolved within a relatively short period of time, every report is treated seriously from the moment it is received. Until law enforcement determines otherwise, we must assume a threat could be credible and respond accordingly. Students and employees remained safe throughout today’s investigation.
I also want to reiterate the importance of using FortifyFL appropriately. Reporting tools such as FortifyFL play a critical role in helping law enforcement and school officials identify and address legitimate safety concerns. We encourage students, families and community members to continue reporting information when they have a genuine reason to believe a threat, dangerous situation or criminal activity may exist.
FortifyFL must never be used to submit information known to be false.
The District has zero tolerance for anyone who knowingly misuses the platform, makes a false threat or assists another person in doing so. Those responsible should expect severe school disciplinary action and legal consequences.
We appreciate your partnership in reinforcing with students that false threats are neither harmless nor funny. They disrupt learning, cause unnecessary fear and place an unacceptable burden on students, employees, families, law enforcement and the broader community. They must stop.

A little taste of America was on the menu at Martin County High School! ❤️🤍💙
Students in the Culinary Arts CTE program put their skills to work in the Tiger’s Den, preparing a special Constitution Week luncheon featuring mini chicken pot pie shooters, pulled pork sliders, tricolored pasta salad and red, white and blue refreshments.
And the learning didn’t stop in the kitchen. Constitution-themed student work filled the Tiger’s Den, bringing together career-ready skills and creativity.
A little history, a lot of hands-on learning—and a real opportunity for our students to put their CTE skills to work.
