📚🐾 Our third graders have been busy exploring the animal kingdom! 🐟🦎🦅🐸🐒
Students recently wrapped up a science unit on how animals are classified. They learned all about the five types of vertebrates — mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, and fish — as well as some fascinating invertebrates.
Using the AVID strategy of two-column notes, students gathered information on the unique characteristics of each animal group. They then transformed their notes into colorful pages for their very own Animal Classification Book.
We are so proud of their hard work, curiosity, and creativity! Take a look at our young scientists in action. 🌟
🎨✨ Our second graders had a blast celebrating International Dot Day, inspired by Peter H. Reynolds’ book The Dot! Students learned about the power of creativity, courage, and making their mark on the world. They discovered that even the smallest mark can lead to big ideas.

✨Our creative third graders have been hard at work!✨
Inspired by the works of Pablo Neruda, students explored the beauty in everyday life by writing poems about ordinary objects. From pencils to sneakers to lunchboxes, they discovered that even the simplest things can hold extraordinary meaning.
This project was part of our preparation for Hispanic Heritage Month, as we honor and learn from the voices of influential Hispanic and Latin American artists, writers, and leaders.
