Our 2nd graders stepped back in time and became real-life paleontologists as part of our reading unit! Inspired by the incredible discovery of Sue Hendrickson, students dove into the world of dinosaurs with hands-on, engaging activities.
They worked together to carefully excavate dinosaur bones and piece together a giant T. rex skeleton ๐ฆ, just like scientists do in the field! Students also had a blast digging for โfossilsโ in chocolate chip cookies, while practicing patience and precision.
We also put our math and science skills to the test by measuring and making predictions about dinosaur eggs, observing what might happen as they โgrewโ and changed over time.
It was a day full of curiosity, teamwork, and discovery.
