FREE ADMISSION to the Martin County Fair and Youth Livestock Show on Monday, Feb. 12! You read that right! Martin County School District students will have free admission to the fair on Monday, Feb. 12, between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. when they show their Student's Day Passport at the gate. Students can grab their passport book from their teacher or with the link below. Students can get stamps from any four activities and return the passport to their teacher for PBIS/Student Engagement points! Remember, Monday, Feb. 12 is a teacher workday, so students have the day off. What better way to spend the day than at the fair, for free! This flyer is NOT the actual passport. We just kicked off our school’s Kids Heart Challenge! Students and staff are excited to get going on helping kids with special hearts and learning how to take care of our own. If you haven’t already, JOIN OUR TEAM at heart.org/schools or by downloading the AHA Schools app. Once you’re on the team, be sure to complete Finn’s Mission. That’s where you’ll learn the lifesaving skill of Hands-Only CPR, which when given immediately can double (even triple) a person’s chance of surviving cardiac arrest. Other missions will help you raise funds for kids with special hearts and learn the warning signs of a stroke. As always, our students will have the opportunity to earn thank-you gifts for themselves and funds and equipment for our school. Join us today! 🐝STELLAR SPELLERS SHINE🐝 The Martin County School District held the 58th Annual Lillian A. Dassori Elementary Spelling Bee last night at Martin County High School. Three students from each of the elementary schools in the District participated in 10 rounds of competition, taking on challenging words such as "eclectic," "sudsy," and "anaconda." Felix A. Williams Elementary 4th-grade student Rafael Pedrosa was named Spelling Bee Champion, acing the winning word "avocado." Congratulations to all our stellar spellers and to the champion, Rafael! #ALLINMartin👊

Hello Pinewood Family, We gave out the Pawsone Attendance Pokeballs this past week and the kids were very excited! Although our number of students with Pawsome Attendance declined between Q1 (294) and Q2 (230) our number of perfect attendance students increased from 69 to 115. Being in school, on time is critical to student achievement. Let's see if we can reach 350 Pawsome Attendance in Q3. 🔔NEW START TIMES FOR THE 24-25 SCHOOL YEAR🔔 The Martin County School Board approved new school start times for the 2024-2025 School Year during its regular Board Meeting tonight. Florida HB 733, passed in 2023, requires school districts to comply with new middle and high school start times beginning with the 2026-2027 school year. To comply with the legislation, Martin County School District school start and end times have been adjusted for the 2024-2025 school year. Because we are implementing the new times before the mandated year (2026-2027), the District will receive funds from the Florida Department of Education, which a portion of will be used to purchase a school bus tracking system for families. This system will allow verified parents and guardians to see when the bus will arrive at its stop in the mornings and afternoons, and if there are any delays along the route. 📣SHARE YOUR FEEDBACK📣 The Martin County School District seeking your feedback about a potential year-round school pilot program. What is year-round school? Year-round school does NOT mean students will be in the classroom for more days. Instead, the mandated 180 days of instruction are spread throughout the year, changing the duration and timeframes of breaks. In May, Governor Ron DeSantis signed HB 891 into law, establishing a four-year pilot program for year-round schooling. To contemplate joining the program (which starts in the 2024-2025 school year), the District was required to apply by the Florida Department of Education. The District has initially identified Warfield Elementary, Pinewood Elementary, Port Salerno Elementary, and Indiantown Middle as potential schools to participate in the pilot program.
