Hello Pinewood Families,
The school day begins at 7:30 am, which means students should be at their seat, starting their academic day at that time. Any student that is not in their classroom at 7:30 am is marked absent until they arrive in the classroom, at which time they are marked tardy. If your child is arriving to school at or after 7:30 am, please make sure they have had something to eat. Breakfast at PWE is free and is served between 7:00-7:30 am. This means your child is in the cafeteria, in the breakfast line before 7:30 am. Your child’s schedule is purposefully designed to account for every minute of instruction. If students arrive after 7:30 am, they will be missing critical content being taught or additional support being offered.
We appreciate your cooperation in speaking with your child about the importance of being responsible and accountable for their learning success.

Superintendent Dr. John D. Millay participated in a learning walk at Pinewood Elementary School today.
"Learning walks are one of many tools we use to learn about the great things happening at each of our schools," Dr. Millay shared. "In addition to observation and engagement, it allows our leadership team to learn about additional ways we can offer support."
In Ms. Lacey's class, students benefit from using technology to provide large visuals as they learn strategies and develop their writing skills.

What a great time we had shopping for gifts for our loved ones at the Holiday Gift Shop and showing our moves at the Holiday Dance! Thank you to everyone who had a hand in putting these events together as they bring us closer together as a community. This is our final week before winter break. We are still having mid-year assessments and completing academic standards before we enjoy our 2 weeks with our families. We need our Panthers present and on time. Here are this week's events:

Hello Pinewood Family,
We had a very successful Conference Night this past week. Thank you to our teachers and staff for preparing for these important conversations and thank you to our families for making education a priority. Monday and Tuesday of this week, the walker bridge is being closed for repair. There will be additional police to assist during arrival and dismissal. We ask that you remind your children that toys and playing cards should not be brought to school. This becomes especially distracting during dismissal. Mrs. Coder, our amazing music teacher, will be holding auditions on November 28th and 29th for the Performing Panthers. This year, auditions and participation is open to students in grades 1-5. Please ask your teacher for a packet if you are interested. This coming week may be short, but certainly one of the most important weeks of the month, as we give thanks and reflect on the goodness and love that surrounds each and every one of us. We, at PWE, are blessed to be part of your lives. Here are this week’s events:

Tuvimos una noche de conferencias muy exitosa la semana pasada. Gracias a nuestros maestros y personal por prepararse para estas importantes conversaciones y gracias a nuestras familias por hacer de la educación una prioridad. El lunes y martes de esta semana, el puente peatonal estará cerrado por reparaciones. Habrá policía adicional para ayudar durante la llegada y la salida. Le pedimos que le recuerde a sus hijos que no deben traer juguetes o tarjetas de juego a la escuela. Esto se vuelve especialmente molesto durante el despido. La Sra. Due to Hurricanes Ian and Nicole, students enrolled in the Martin County School District have missed four (4) days of instruction this school year. In an effort to maximize instructional time and mitigate learning loss, the decision has been made to use two of the Hurricane Makeup Days that are included on the 2022-2023 instructional calendar.

All retake proofs will only be delivered electronically, so you must register your child for them to be photographed and for your proof to be visible to you afterwards.
