🔔NEW START TIMES FOR THE 24-25 SCHOOL YEAR🔔 The Martin County School Board approved new school start times for the 2024-2025 School Year during its regular Board Meeting tonight. Florida HB 733, passed in 2023, requires school districts to comply with new middle and high school start times beginning with the 2026-2027 school year. To comply with the legislation, Martin County School District school start and end times have been adjusted for the 2024-2025 school year. Because we are implementing the new times before the mandated year (2026-2027), the District will receive funds from the Florida Department of Education, which a portion of will be used to purchase a school bus tracking system for families. This system will allow verified parents and guardians to see when the bus will arrive at its stop in the mornings and afternoons, and if there are any delays along the route. 🚀TAKE FLIGHT WITH US! 🚀 On Tuesday, February 7, each Martin County School District elementary school will host a Kindergarten Blast Off orientation event for families! Staff will provide families of rising kindergartners with information on school meal programs, Extended Day after-school care opportunities, completing their enrollment and more! TOWN HALL ON ALL THINGS EDUCATION 📣📚 The Martin County School District is hosting a series of town hall sessions designed to engage our local community in conversations about issues impacting education. 📣SHARE YOUR FEEDBACK📣 The Martin County School District seeking your feedback about a potential year-round school pilot program. What is year-round school? Year-round school does NOT mean students will be in the classroom for more days. Instead, the mandated 180 days of instruction are spread throughout the year, changing the duration and timeframes of breaks. In May, Governor Ron DeSantis signed HB 891 into law, establishing a four-year pilot program for year-round schooling. To contemplate joining the program (which starts in the 2024-2025 school year), the District was required to apply by the Florida Department of Education. The District has initially identified Warfield Elementary, Pinewood Elementary, Port Salerno Elementary, and Indiantown Middle as potential schools to participate in the pilot program. Hello Pinewood Family, The Winter Dance was an absolute success. Great music, fun crafts, and lots of smiles and laughter. Thank your for sharing your evening with us. This week we begin our mid-year progress monitoring assessment. All grade levels will be participating. Parents, it is extremely important your children are on time to school and prepared to do their very best. Each morning, be sure to give them words of encouragement. The results will be used to plan classroom instruction and remediation, if needed. We will share overall results during the State of PWE in our January SAC meeting.
