📚EARLY LITERACY IN THE SPOTLIGHT📚
Port Salerno Elementary School welcomed Florida Sen. Gayle Harrell and researchers from the University of Florida Lastinger Center for Learning to see early literacy instruction in action in the Martin County School District!
Joined by District leaders, guests visited kindergarten and first-grade classrooms to see how students are building foundational literacy skills through the UFLI curriculum.
The visit was also part of UF’s statewide Listening Tour, bringing together educators, parents and community stakeholders to share perspectives on how education data and information can better support teaching and learning.
When educators, families and community partners come together, our students benefit. That shared commitment to strengthening early literacy and building strong foundations for our youngest learners is what Martin Means More is all about.

From building robots to exploring engineering challenges, Martin County School District students are getting a hands-on look at the exciting world of STEM!
Students from SeaWind Elementary School and Hidden Oaks Middle School recently visited the S.P.A.M. Robotics Center as part of the District’s STEM Center Field Experience. Through interactive activities and robotics demonstrations, students explored engineering, technology and learned more about the award-winning FRC 180 S.P.A.M. Robotics team!

During #NationalSchoolBusSafetyWeek, we’re encouraging motorists and families to do their part in keeping students safe on and around school buses. Here are a few important safety tips to keep in mind:
🛑 Stop for school buses when their red lights are flashing and STOP arms are extended, as required by law.
🚸 Yield to pedestrians and stay alert for students crossing the road.
🚗 Slow down in school zones and watch for children near bus stops.
👨👩👧 Talk with your children about staying safe while waiting for, boarding and exiting the bus.
And a special thank-you to our dedicated school bus drivers and Transportation team, who work hard every day to transport our students safely to and from school!

Elle was personally presented with the Commissioner's Leadership Award by Commissioner Henry Mack during today’s Florida Department of Education Board meeting, hosted right here at the Martin County School District!
After facing life-changing health challenges at a young age, Elle has continued to accomplish incredible things. She has earned a 4.0 GPA and Cambridge AICE Diploma, participated in the Orlando Magic Dreamers program, and served as a manager for the MCHS basketball team for the past four years.
Elle’s determination and perseverance haven’t gone unnoticed, even catching the attention of Commissioner Mack, who praised her leadership and character.
