🏀🏆HEART OF A CHAMPION🏆🏀
Martin County High School senior Ryan Davis has enjoyed a memorable four years as a scholar-athlete. He recently penned a goodbye letter as he prepares to begin the next chapter of his life as a student-athlete for Nova Southeastern University.
When describing how the Tigers felt after earning the Florida High School Athletic Association Class 6A title earlier this month, Ryan was full of emotion.
"There was no other way to go out, and we went out on top," he shared. "It was a great feeling for us and something Martin County will always remember."

💡INGENUITY IN ACTION💡
5th-graders at Jensen Beach Elementary School designed rooms as part of an energy lesson last week. They had to figure out how to make circuits work to light the room AND run a fan by motor! Way to go, Viking scientists!

🔬🏆CELEBRATING A SCIENCE CHAMPION🔬🏆
Varun Singh, an eighth-grader at Dr. David L. Anderson Middle School, earned the USAID - US Agency for International Development's Science Champion Award for his science fair project titled "Are You in My Hotspot?"
For his project, Varun created a prototype that can record a person's body temperature without bodily contact while also detecting people that may have come into contact with them. The prototype works by scanning RFID-enabled lanyards and is designed for school or office settings.
"This project can be implemented in schools, where students can be scanned either on the bus or at the school entrance, and can be advised whether they may enter the school," Varun wrote as part of the abstract for his project. "In addition, hospitals can use this project and find nurses and doctors that came into contact with certain patients, further enhancing safety. Any business or workplace that wants to track the whereabouts of their employees to keep them safe can use this prototype."
We can't wait to see where Varun's next impactful idea and research will take him!

🌊#BEACHBUILT: COMING FULL CIRCLE🌊
What is meant to be will always find its way - this story will make even the biggest of skeptics a believer!
Jensen Beach High School claimed its first-ever traditional Class 1A State Wrestling Championship this year, an achievement that had been many years in the making for three coaches who share deep roots.
For RJ Costello (Athletic Director), Mike Sawtelle (teacher and coach) and Tom McMath (teacher and coach), the journey began many years ago at their shared alma mater - West Virginia University. They each found success as members of WVU's wrestling team before reuniting in Martin County to mold generations of young scholar-athletes.
"There was a reason for every single one of us to be here [at Jensen Beach High]," Coach Sawtelle shared.

Students are taught to work collaboratively, take ownership of their learning, think critically and advocate for themselves. Families enjoyed learning more about how the program is preparing students for future success in all areas of life.
