Broadcom M.A.S.T.E.R.S. nomination. ⚛️ Nira Goyal, 10th grade - Martin County High School: "Plastic Mulch and Organic Amendments - Can They Help Us Control Nutsedge?" 4th place in the Plant Sciences category. Florida Association for Food Protection award - $350. Nira will advance to ISEF. ⚛️ Kathryn Rogers, 8th grade - Dr. David L. Anderson Middle School: "Feeling the Beat." 🥉 Third place in the Behavioral & Social Science category. ⚛️ Varun Singh, 8th grade - Dr. David L. Anderson Middle School: "Are You in my Hotspot?" 🥈 Second place in the Robotics and Intelligent Machines category. Broadcom M.A.S.T.E.R.S. nomination. ⚛️ Viraj Singh, 12th grade - South Fork High School: "A Mathematical Approach to Cryptography Using Laplace Transform and Taylor Series and its Vulnerabilities." Special project recognition in the Mathematics and Computational Sciences category. Florida Institute of Technology scholarship (half tuition per academic year - a value of $80K+ over four years). 🍎INSTRUCTIONAL UPDATE FOR FAMILIES🍎 In March, Governor Ron DeSantis signed Senate Bill 1048 into law, effectively eliminating Florida Standards Assessments (FSAs) and replacing them with progress monitoring. This school year will be the last year that students take FSAs - next year, Florida will fully implement progress monitoring-based school accountability. Our Division of Instructional Services has created a video explaining what parents need to know about this new legislation and the status of assessments: https://youtu.be/hjIM1Xcns6c. Many of our students will participate in FSAs this week. We ask families to continue prioritizing attendance and punctuality while also encouraging their children to take pride in demonstrating what they have learned this year. 🎨CELEBRATING CREATIVITY🎨 The arts are most definitely alive - and celebrated - in your Martin County public schools! Each year, hundreds of our fifth-grade students participate in the Office of the Martin County Tax Collector's Kids Tag Art contest, creating unique designs that families and interested community members can purchase in the form of license plates and key fobs. This year's award-winning artists were celebrated during a special event held March 30, 2022, at The Children's Museum of the Treasure Coast. "I've had such a memorable time as a student in the Martin County School District for the past 10 years, but most prominently as a Falcon for the past four," Angelina shares. "Being involved in many clubs, athletics and leadership positions allowed me to create lasting memories with my fellow classmates. I had the honor to serve as Class President, National Honor Society President, a two-year captain of the Varsity Flag Football team, and more. I truly believe that these opportunities have prepared me for success in the real world. Following graduation, I will be attending the University of Florida where I will major in Sports Management. While my interests lie in both sports management and marketing, my ultimate career goal is to own a sports agency firm! I’d like to give a major shoutout to all of my friends and classmates who have pushed me along my path to academic success. While I’ve had many supportive teachers throughout my entire time as an MCSD student, I want to give a special mention to Mr. Sanchez, Coach Gilly, and Mr. Tolliver for being among the greatest teachers and mentors ever!
