🌟ACHIEVING SUCCESS WITH AVID🌟 The Martin County School District's AVID program is growing! AVID stands for AVID stands for "Advancement Via Individual Determination. Murray Middle School is one of the schools implementing AVID, which is a program that focuses on preparing students for college and career success. It equips them with the academic, organizational, and critical thinking skills necessary for higher education or career readiness. AVID doesn't just focus on academics; it also helps students develop life skills such as communication, teamwork, and leadership, which are essential for success beyond the classroom. Murray Middle, Stuart Middle School and Warfield Elementary are in the planning phase of adding AVID to their schools. Next year, the program will be fully implemented! Students were so excited to be back at one of Martin County School District's gems to learn and become scientists for the day! ESC teachers were thrilled to have students back exploring and learning more about the environment that surrounds them. 📚🧩LIBRARY OASIS🧩📚 Lunch has a whole new look this year at Stuart Middle School! After lunch, Stuart Middle's media center transforms into an oasis of fun and relaxation! Students are allowed to go to the media center to enjoy board games, coloring, arts and crafts, and more when they are finished with lunch. 📈LEVELING UP📈 Collaboration is always in action in the Martin County School District! These teachers are teaming up to become literacy coaches or leveling up their coaching skills, by working to earn their Florida Reading Coach Endorsement. MCSD Professional Learning Department team member Stephanie Ressler, along with Curriculum and Instruction’s Courtney Beard and Maureen Mannion from Pinewood Elementary, are leading the charge in delivering the Florida Literacy Coach Endorsement Professional Development for these future literacy coaches. The coursework provides an opportunity for coaches to improve their coaching knowledge and skills by engaging in reading, analyzing videos, participating in activities related to the standards with others in the course, and developing culminating projects for each module to demonstrate their growing knowledge and abilities. 📖📹🤝 Literacy coaches serve as a stable resource for professional development and ongoing support for teachers and school leaders throughout a school to generate improvement in literacy instruction and student achievement. 💡🎓 We are working together to raise the bar for education and become the #1 District in Florida! #ALLINMartin👊 #MCSDBetterTogether💫

🦅EAGLE EYE SENSE🦅 Martin County High School junior Patrick Moeller created an amazing sensory wall for Crystal Lake Elementary School as part of his Eagle Scout project! Sensory walls provide a stimulating environment that can increase concentration and focus attention, cognitive development through creativity and problem-solving skills, and so much more! Patrick planned, collected donations, designed and installed the wall for the Hawks. The students at CLE will surely love their new sensory wall! 🚗TRAVELING THE MAINE ROAD🚗 Traveling the MAINE Road to the #1 spot by providing tailored, consistent and meaningful support to each of our schools! 🍎 Superintendent of Schools Michael Maine visited Spectrum Academy and Warfield Elementary School in the morning. In the afternoon, Mr. Maine caught up with Assistant Superintendent of Academics, Mr. Troy LaBarbara, at the Hobe Sound Early Learning Center. 🍎 Assistant Superintendent of Student Support Services Lisa Estevez stopped by Jensen Beach Elementary School and Jensen Beach High School. 🍎 Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources Julie Sessa visited Hidden Oaks Middle School, Stuart Middle School and ran into Mrs. Estevez at Jensen Beach High School. These site visits are beneficial for several reasons! District leaders are inspired by the creativity, innovation, and passion they witness in the classrooms. 🥦HEAD STARTING HEALTHY HABITS🥦 Martin County School District's Food and Nutrition Services Director Laura Holmedal joined our Head Start students for lunch today! The menu included: orange chicken, rice, chopped broccoli, a strawberry applesauce cup and milk.🍏🥦🥛😋 To encourage students to eat and try new foods, FNS provides Head Start teachers free meals so they can promote good eating habits for their students. Today, every student tried broccoli and received a cool sticker! ❤️STAYING ALIVE: CPR EDITION❤️ Martin County School District interns in the Project SEARCH and Martin SAILS programs recently learned how to perform CPR! A special thanks to MCSD Safety Manager Mark Cocco and Jennifer Carder with Life First, Inc. for hosting the life-saving session. Project SEARCH and MArtin SAILS are post-high school work-based learning programs for our Martin County School District students with disabilities who have met the criteria to defer their high school diploma, demonstrate a need for continuing support and services, and a desire to work part or full-time after the program. 🎨CELEBRATING CREATIVITY🎨 South Fork High School's 2021-2022 yearbook Procyon was selected and featured as one of the best covers in the nation by Herff Jones! The yearbook is featured in The Best of Herff Jones Portfolio, Vol. 28, recognizing the best of the best publications around the nation. Yearbook students in the Community Technology Academy in the 21-22 school year designed a cover around the theme "SF Original" with a nod to Netflix. Two current seniors, Tori Murray and Parker Shore (holding portfolio and certificate), were on staff at the time of the creation and will continue to create a memorable SFHS yearbook this year as leaders on the yearbook staff. 📸 Pictured is part of Procyon's 23-24 staff with Advisor and CTE teacher Laura Green and Herff Jones representative Jen Ortman, who presented the award.
