🦋I SPY A BUTTERFLY🦋 Can you spot the camouflaged butterflies? AP Bio students at Jensen Beach High School were tasked to camouflage butterflies into different surroundings around Mrs. Allen's classroom. Saheli Patel, an AP student and 2023 graduate, shared the idea. It's an activity that has become social media famous but is educational! Students learn about evolution and how animals adapt or blend in to hide from predators. The butterfly catchers in this scenario: Mr. Connelly and Mrs. Reese! At the end of the day, they competed to see who could capture the most butterflies in 10 minutes. Students were recognized if they read three or more Sunshine State books this school year. 🍎LEAVING A LEGACY🍎 Last week, Superintendent Michael Maine and the Martin County School Board celebrated the career of Stuart Middle School Mr. Peter Erwig. Mr. Erwig has been an outstanding science educator in the Martin County School District for 30 years! He helps students reach their full potential and truly embodies the District's mission to educate ALL students for success. Throughout his 30-year career at MCSD, Mr. Erwig has taught Physical Education to students at J.D. Parker Elementary, coached golf at Jensen Beach High School and cross country at Martin County High School. He has also spent some of his summers sharing his love of science at the Environmental Studies Council Center. Choosing to retire was a hard decision for Mr. Erwig, but he looks forward to spending more time traveling to visit his daughters and teaching golf. Martin County School District Just now 🎓#MCSDSENIORSTORIES🎓 This morning, we are shining a spotlight on Jensen Beach High School senior Dylan Fox! "Dylan is a proud graduate of Jensen Beach High School," proud mom Nikki shared. "He was a four-year varsity wrestler and a captain of the team for three years. He helped lead the team to four State Titles and finished off his senior year with an Individual State title at 152 pounds. Dylan’s best memories were fishing and boating with friends and making history with the Falcon Wrestling Team. A huge shout out to his amazing coach Tom McMath and all the great teachers he had at Jensen over the last four years!" Dylan is a Martin County Fire Rescue Explorer Program member, currently earning his EMT Certification. He will enter the Fire Academy and train to be a Firefighter/Paramedic. 🎉Congratulations, Dylan! 🎉 We are so proud of you! 🔬STEM SUPERSTAR🔬 Congratulations to Martin County High School's Nira Goyal, who took 2nd place in the Plant Category at the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) in Dallas, TX, last week! More than 1500 students from dozens of countries competed at ISEF. More than 600 individual and team awards are presented every year at ISEF. Grand Awards are presented in each of the 21 ISEF categories: 1st Award: $5,000; 2nd Award: $2,000; 3rd Award: $1,000; 4th Award: $500. Nira was one of 85 representatives to go to ISEF from Florida and one of 22 who walked away from ISEF as a Finalist! Congratulations, Nira! We are so proud of you! #ALLINMartin👊

🍎LEAVING A LEGACY🍎 Last week, Superintendent Michael Maine and the Martin County School Board celebrated the career of South Fork High School's Ms. Veronica Labianca. Ms. Labianca served as an Exceptional Student Education Paraprofessional but did so much more than just teach in her 31 years. She was the face of Bulldog Athletics, as she was often helping out in the ticket booth at many sporting events. She loved cheering on students and faculty in and out of the classroom. Ms. Labianca helps students excel and succeed in multiple aspects of their lives. She often says her job was to teach the kids, but they actually taught her. Ms. Labianca, thank you for your unconditional care for SFHS students. We wish you the best in retirement! #ALLINMartin👊
