SkillsUSA is a career and technical student organization that empowers its members to become skilled professionals, career-ready leaders, and responsible community members. During the contests, students participate in competitions, gain hands-on experience, and develop essential skills in their chosen fields. MCHS CTE students participate in Florida Skills USA Contest
🎉CELEBRATING MATHLETES🎉 This past weekend, all Martin County School District-operated elementary schools participated in the 2nd Annual MCSD 5th Grade Math Olympics! The arena: Dr. David L. Anderson Middle School. The events: individual and team rounds in problem-solving, critical thinking, and speed math. Every team was shooting for gold, but after the calculations were tallied, the Crystal Lake Elementary School Hawks won the gold, earning the title of District Champion. The Jensen Beach Elementary School Vikings took home silver and the J.D. Parker Elementary School Rockets got the bronze. 🌟 FOREVER A FALCON 🌟 During last Tuesday's School Board Meeting, the District celebrated the career of Jensen Beach High School Teacher, Michael Sawtelle. Mr. Sawtelle has worked in the Martin County School District for the past 35 years after beginning his career in August of 1989. During that time, Mr. Sawtelle taught physical education at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. Mr. Sawtelle also coached volleyball in the District for 25 years, winning five state titles and being named the Florida High School Athletic Association Coach of the Year six times. It's safe to say Mr. Sawtelle will be missed in our District. We wish him the very best in retirement. Thank you, Mr. Sawtelle!

"Tiffany is graduating from her Mom’s Alma mater, Martin County High School," proud mom Tracey shared. "She had an amazing experience at Bessey Creek Elementary School and thanks Mrs. Lahara for making fourth grade the best! Her “Nana glasses” and the book Gregor the Overlander helped instill a love of reading that continues today. Mr. Losardo and the Cambridge International Education program helped build her confidence and get her on track to graduate from IRSC - Indian River State College with her Associate of Arts degree in May 2024." 🎨AWARDING ARTISTIC EXCELLENCE🎨 The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards' Palm Beach and Martin Counties Region announced its 2023-2024 Scholastic Arts Competition winners. Twenty-four talented artists from Jensen Beach High School, Martin County High School and South Fork High School have been recognized for their creativity, originality and artistic skill. Gold Key winners will have their original artwork displayed at the Regional Scholastic Art Exhibition from now through April 27. at the Armory Art Center in West Palm Beach. "I am thrilled to share the incredible journey of my daughter, Frida Lopez, as she embarks on her senior year and sets her sights on a bright future ahead," proud mom Pamela shared. "Frida's unwavering determination, kindness, and compassionate nature have always filled our hearts with pride, and we couldn't be more excited to see her dreams unfold...Being the first generation in our family to attend college, Frida's journey is a testament to her resilience and the values of hard work and perseverance instilled in her from a young age. We love Frida immensely and are incredibly proud of the remarkable young woman she has become. 🎉YOUTH OF THE YEAR🎉 On Tuesday night, Superintendent Michael Maine and members of the School Board recognized Martin County High School senior Jomar Zelaya, who was named the Boys & Girls Clubs of Martin County's 2024 Youth of the Year. Jomar, who represents the Port Salerno club, is a nine-year member of the BGCMC. He started as a young mentee, and grew into one of the mentors he looked up to. Jomar has performed more than 500 hours of community service, is a dual-enrolled honor student, and is a winner of the Character Counts Joe Kordick Award. He aspires to become an orthopedic surgeon. In addition to being celebrated locally throughout the year, Jomar will move on to represent Martin County in the Boys & Girls Clubs of Florida's 2024 Youth of the Year competition! 🍎LEAVING A LEGACY🍎 Last night, Superintendent Michael Maine and the Martin County School Board celebrated the career of Felix A. Williams Elementary Extended Day Manager, Kandy Gilbert. Ms. Gilbert has served the Martin County School District for 32 years. She started her journey as an Extended Day manager at Jensen Beach Elementary School, but has been part of the FAWE family since 1994. She provides more than a safe place for after-school hours, she also enriches the lives of her students by teaching them new skills. Over her 32 years, she has made meaningful connections with her students, many of whom have gone on to work with her as Extended Day counselors!
