🌎IMMERSING, LEARNING, CONNECTING🌎
What better way to learn a language than immersing yourself in it?
That's exactly what Ms. Meza's Spanish students and Ms. Hill's ELL students at South Fork High School are doing!
This beautiful strategy encourages students to practice inclusion, immersion, and fluency development.
"Both teachers are AMAZING. The love that comes from their classrooms is palpable. We are blessed to have these two teachers as South Fork Bulldogs!"-- Dr. Tim Aitken, South Fork High School Principal.

🎃TRICK-OR-TREATING FOR ALL🎃
Staff and students at Willoughby Learning Center recently treated some of their neighbors at Pinewood Elementary to an inclusive trick-or-treat hallway parade!
A lot of hard work, time, donations, and great decorating skills brought the event together and the results were worth it! There were smiles on so many faces as the students interacted with each other. At Willoughby Learning Center, leaders and community volunteers are being created, and it shows with such a successful and inclusive event!

🌱DIGGING IN FOR EDUCATION🌱
The 3rd Grade Gifted class at Felix A. Williams Elementary is celebrating its annual Garden Week!
During the week, students receive a hands-on enrichment of their “plants” science unit and their Expository and Research Writing lessons. Each child chooses their own plant, conducts research to become experts, prepares the garden beds and plants their plant.
The 3rd Grade Gifted students will continue to care for their plants all year and later give garden tours to kindergarten, first and second-grade students once they are "experts" and feel confident in sharing their new knowledge with others!

📣 OUTSTANDING LEADERS SHOUT-OUT📣
"HUGE shout-out to Principal Sarah Tuthill and Assistant Principal Justin Browning, the new and amazing administration team at Felix A. Williams Elementary. From the start, this duo's positive energy, support for students, and appreciation of staff have been evident. They have also balanced maintaining tradition with trying new ideas in such a perfect way so that things feel fresh but not overwhelming. They are inspiring us all to SAIL and have been "splashing" new additions to our FAWE Family."

🤝COMMUNITY SUPPORT FUELS SUCCESS🤝
Superintendent John D. Millay and Deputy Superintendent Michael Maine attended the United Way of Martin County's October Community Conversation at the Kane Center this afternoon.
Dr. Millay provided attendees with an update on teaching, learning and demographic shifts throughout the Martin County School District. We continue to encourage anyone with a little free time in their schedule to consider volunteering to read to our students. To eliminate the vocabulary and language acquisition gaps that exist throughout the District, we need a minimum of 1️⃣0️⃣0️⃣ volunteer hours for reading per week at each school.

📚MCSD READS📚
Check out Mrs. Wardell's 4th graders at Warfield Elementary School engaged in their books! They love independent reading time!
They are working extremely hard to reach their end-of-year goals in the MCSD Reads program. MCSD Reads is the District's initiative to close the word gap by reinstating Accelerated Reader throughout the 2022-2023 school year, where students read books and take quizzes for fun prizes!
Great job, Mrs. Wardell's 4th graders! Keep on reading!
