Mathematics Standards after attending an intensive all-day learning opportunity hosted by the Florida Department of Education this weekend. Educators from Dr. David L. Anderson Middle School, Hidden Oaks Middle School, Indiantown Middle School, Stuart Middle School and our district math team spent their Saturday in Miami for the workshop. 🍎LEAVING A LEGACY🍎 On Tuesday evening, Superintendent Dr. John D. Millay and the Martin County School Board celebrated the career of Palm City Elementary School's Stephanie Dale. Ms. Dale has educated MCSD students for 31 years, mainly as a third-grade teacher. She has impressed a love for reading onto countless students during her tenure. Principal Rabener and Team PCE will greatly miss the unparalleled poise and class she is known to exhibit in all situations. 🎶🎤FLORIDA'S FINEST MUSICIANS🎶🎤 The Martin County School District was well-represented at the Florida Music Education Association's 2022-2023 All-State Conference. Being selected to perform at this level is a tremendous honor for our student musicians - they perform select pieces of music before a panel of judges during the Conference. In some cases, they also have to take a 50-question musical theory test. Students prepare for more than a year to perform. 🎼SIMPLY SUPERIOR🎼 During Tuesday's School Board meeting, Mr. John Egan of Dr. David L. Anderson Middle School was recognized for earning the Florida Bandmasters Association's 2023 Linda Mann Five-Year Superior Award. This award is presented to middle school band directors whose bands earn Superior ratings at the FBA District Concert Music Performance Assessment for five (5) consecutive years. An interesting fact about this particular award is that progress was paused in 2021 during Florida's return to on-campus learning during the pandemic. With that in mind, it took 6 years for Mr. Egan to earn the award, all while maintaining the quality of the AMS music program during a time of global uncertainty. Mr. Egan is the first Martin County School District to earn the award since 2005. Congratulations! #ALLINMartin👊 #PublicSchoolProud

🎨CELEBRATING CREATIVITY🎨 Shirley Zhu, a Martin County High School senior, was recognized during the recent School Board meeting for creating the cover of the Martin County School District's Annual Comprehensive Financial Report. Shirley is in the District's S3 Student Internship Program and works under the Public Information and Community Relations Department. She has flourished as a graphic designer, creating graphics and flyers for numerous departments throughout the District over the last two years. Shirley recently received her Cambridge Assessment International Education diploma and was awarded a Gold Key in the 2022-2023 Scholastic Arts Competition. Millay and School Board Member Christia Li Roberts got a tour of the new Palm City Elementary School building today! PCE Principal Lauren Rabener says boxes are going in today, which means they are one step closer to opening! Principal Rabener and her team are working hard to ensure the transition will be as smooth as possible. In 2018, Martin County voters generously approved a half-cent sales tax increase to provide funding to replace the Palm City Elementary building. 📚CELEBRATING LOCAL HISTORY📚 We are honored to highlight Ms. Gertrude Pettway and her amazing accomplishments in Martin County for #BlackHistoryMonth. Ms. Pettway was an educational leader in the Hobe Sound community, serving both at the Hobe Sound Early Learning Center and Hobe Sound Elementary School. In 1985, she was named the first black South Regional Teacher of the Year. #ALLINMartin👊

💚THE WIZARDS OF SOUTH FORK💚 South Fork High School proudly hosted the Felix A. Williams Elementary and Jensen Beach Elementary School students for lunch and a show! Students got a sneak peek of the South Fork Drama Program The Wizard of Oz, performed under the guidance of Sheri Bryan. It was such a fantastic show that the kids gave it 10 stars out of 5! "Thank you to the Felix and Jensen teachers and chaperones for sharing some time at South Fork. The kids were WONDERFUL examples of the most precious resources Martin County has to offer!
