🐬CELEBRATING DIVERSITY, PROMOTING UNITY🐬 Members of the Jensen Beach High School Varsity Football Team recently stepped up in a big way, and their support was noticed and greatly appreciated by the SeaWind Elementary - Hobe Sound, FL family! At Family Heritage Night, Coach Melvin Phillips and Coach Tim Caffey, along with seniors Malachi Harriel and Jamari Graves, spent the evening with SeaWind Elementary families serving up delicious cultural cuisine, friendly conversation, and smiles that lit up the room! Principal Jen Michels said this type of real-life mentoring is the most valuable gift we can give our young students. SeaWind Dolphins were beaming as JBHS Falcon leaders and role models shared their stories and provided words of encouragement and inspiration. "These gentlemen gave of their time in this most genuine and sincerely appreciated act of service," Principal Michels said. Principal Michels also gives credit to Principal Lori Vogel, saying, "From one school leader to another, thank you for creating ripples that extend far beyond your school walls and beyond the football field. 🍎SHARING KNOWLEDGE ON A NATIONAL STAGE🍎 Spectrum Academy Principal Janice Mills joined Mr. David O'Brien, Regional Expansion Director of Project LIFT, to deploy #MCSDTheRippleEffect during their presentation at the National Dropout Prevention Center's annual conference this week! Speaking from personal experience about the partnership between Spectrum and Project LIFT, Ms. Mills and Mr. O'Brien discussed the many ways public-private partnerships can help change the trajectory of at-risk youth. The presentation helped educators, clinicians and dropout prevention personnel from throughout the country understand how the disruption of a traditional system, coupled with effective strategies for dropout prevention, can lead to improved graduation rates and reduced mental health/substance abuse concerns for students. 🚍BUS DRIVER SHOUT-OUT🚍 It's time to recognize another great student delivery specialist who has received a raving review from a Martin County School District parent! This family says their daughter always wanted to ride the bus like her big brother. The early pickup and late drop-off times made them hesitant, but they decided to try it out. Now, they are so glad they gave it a go. That's because they love their student's driver, Ms. Wallesia Brown! "Seeing her smiling face every morning, her greeting to our daughter (and us) and the communication she provides makes us know she is in just as safe of hands with Ms. Brown as if she was with us. My wife probably buys her more gifts than teachers during the year, because our daughter loves her so much. Our son gets to take the bus next year, and he cannot wait to get to ride Ms. Brown's bus to school." We love our drivers! Ms. Monks says Mr. Ryan Carter is amazing with the kids. "He is funny and quizzes the kids on the way to school, all while making sure our babies arrive safely. He sings 🎼'Buckle up'🎶 on repeat and just makes the whole ride fun! Our kids beg to leave the house and cry when they are getting close to bus time in the morning. They don't want to miss their Mr. Ryan bus ride!" 🍎COLLECTIVE BARGAINING🍎 The Martin County School Board has confirmed its labor negotiation and executive session dates for 2022-2023 collective bargaining with the Martin County Education Association (MCEA). The School Board looks forward to achieving a 2022-2023 contract agreement with MCEA in a timely, collaborative manner. In accordance with Chapter 447.605, Florida Statutes, executive sessions are the only meetings of the School Board that are closed to the public.
